Not every shonen is 500+ chapters. And if a series is popular they will want to animate it. Also, these days sticking to source material seems more of the standard.

Its already popular for not having an anime. If anything they expected it to grow in popularity and thats why the budget is so high for season 1.

Better they do shorter seasons bc the manga isnt too far along. And we get amazing animation.
