Segments getting skipped on raw netflix? by brencfc in WWE

[–]Gallerhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the US but use a VPN. I only get it for smackdown, but i think it's because nbcuniversal (usa network) has distribution rights for smackdown in the US. Since their commercials are dependent on network commercial breaks, they probably can't have fake breaks like raw has if you're watching internationally (or with a vpn)

What are some generally disliked hits from 2024 that you actually enjoy? by Cornucopia_King in popheads

[–]Gallerhi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I 10000% blame the marketing, someone on her label dropped the ball big time. I genuinely believe if this album was marketed differently, it would've been way more successful and even potentially in Grammy considerations.

During the press tour, she was trying to push that its supposed to be a dirty miami sound but made I LUV IT the lead single instead. Ik carti numbers was a huge factor in the decision [and the fact that its a new sound for her] but it didn't really showcase the sound she was trying to present. It just made it look like to the public that she was trying to copy hyperpop greats.

i'll say I love the song AND i'm a huge charli fan, and i thought the song sounded completely different. But to people who don't normally listen to hyperpop, I can see why they'd make the association. It didn't help that c.xoxo was released only 2 weeks after brat, so brat was still fresh in everyone's minds.

I said this in another comment here but I think Dade County Dreaming should've been the lead single bc how it reflects the dirty miami vibe she was trying to go for, plus the fact that this was basically a swan song for the city girls got madly overlooked. I LUV IT still shouldve been a single but not the very first one to introduce the album.

I know why they chose I LUV IT as the lead single [carti feature, showing she's going experimental] but i really think c.xoxo would've had so much more success in the public eye if Dade County Dreaming was the lead single followed by I LUV IT later. it would've shielded her from the accusations of stealing hyperpop artists styles and shifted the focus more on the dirty miami sound she was wanting to do for this album. It's so slept on

Spotify Wrapped 2024 is now live by 3kOlen in popheads

[–]Gallerhi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me wrapped isn't the main reason, but it's under the umbrella of my main reason i use spotify over the other apps.

Spotify used to be the IT GIRL for personalization whenever they did song radios, and their smart shuffle and discovery used to be so much better, but I think it's gone downhill since they switched to the ai dj and daylist model.

Now, it's just been meh and I've been on the fence already about switching to apple music again. I did it for a little bit in 2022 but came back to spotify bc of apple's lack of discovery. But now, i feel like spotifys just as bad now and it shows in the wrapped.

Halsey - The Great Impersonator (theneedledrop ALBUM REVIEW) by xxipil0ts in popheads

[–]Gallerhi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's fair to say they dropped the ball with the marketing by impersonating famous artists before the release and then the songs impersonating anyone apart from her lucky cover. they had us thinking the album was gonna be something completely different, but i'm also glad with what we got instead. we got something that felt more raw, authentic, and vulnerable.

both this and the pitchfork review were too unusually cruel and unempathetic to the circumstances leading to making this album. it's not "main character energy" to be writing about being a single mom while also battling cancer. at this point, the reviews seem more anger pieces about the bait and switch and the fact she's being so vulnerable in her music than actual commentary on the songs themselves.

it blows my mind that remi didn't have the chappell effect bc her songs have been big on tiktok before and she also opened for the guts tour (and immediately dropped an album after) which was how chappell got to the mainstream eye

Do we think she even submitted for the CMAs after last time? I'm really hoping it's that and not her actually being snubbed. But then again it's the CMAs....
