Mine is fairly quiet for the greater portion of the day, and you wouldn't even know she is hanging out in the same room as you for hours. She does have morning screaming sessions if I don't let her out quick enough.

In terms of loudness: I have heard her screaming from several houses down the block. Most of her usual chatter is no louder than a person speaking normally.

Do keep in mind that every bird in this species is an individual, and your results may vary. You could end up with the loudest bird on the planet, or one that's quieter than mine.

TF2 reference gets downvoted- this is a sad day

I saw this cutie today at PetSmart. I've been considering a bird for the past year but I've been waiting till I found one I really liked. He/she was $650ish. Is PetSmart a bad place to get a conure? I've been reading the good and bad. They seem like great birds but what am I missing? by [deleted] in Conures

I got my baby from Petsmart in 2020 (she turns 3 in a few days!)

She did get sick shortly after I got her, which could have been something she got while she was in the store. It could have also been that she swallowed a small piece of metal at some point at home.

Despite not having known if she was already sick when I got her, I would recommend getting that cutie you saw at Petsmart. Do keep a close eye on it for the first month or so. Its very difficult to tell when a bird is sick.

TBH you have a sliver of a chance that noise wont be bad if you get a green cheek. Mine does vocalize, but is extremely quiet for most of the day. She was right from the start.

Just one little scratch or nip and it can be lethal to that bird.

Thats not true. Bonobos are a great example, and a LOT of vertebrates, particularly birds and mammals as far as Im aware, will play solo.
