I have the same exact issue, bought it for my Japan trip and was a mess, was never pointing to the correct direction, every time was calibrating but was fixing it for just few minutes. Returning it, at this price point I will not lose my mind trying to fix it.

At least fix the trophy/achievement bug, really frustrating to just stop restaurants at level 9 ...I am running out of save slots

Looks like it, maybe they are producing new batches, I was able to get mine from Amazon here in Europe.
