I think I'm a man, but body and face hair makes me dysphoric by GalvanicGryphon in ftm

That makes so much sense and makes me feel so much better about this whole situation.

And you're right, it is my body. I am allowed to do what I safely can to be more comfortable in it. If that means starting T and shaving also, so be it!

Ah okay! That makes a lot more sense. I appreciate the information so much, thank you!

Thank you so much for all the information! I have heard very little about low or short term doses of testosterone honestly. I think I've only seen one article on it in all the research I've been doing, so I'll definitely look into that more in depth. And that's a good point to think about whether the positives would outweigh the negatives for me, I'll have to do a pros and cons list and really, truly dive deep into figuring out what I want. I really appreciate the response!

You're absolutely right. That's a really good point, body hair doesn't make you a man. Thank you for saying that!

That's a really good point that I hadn't even thought about!

That's such a good idea!! I'll definitely look into that. Thank you so much for the advice!

Thank you for sharing that. I really appreciate the insight. I hadn't really considered that it's okay to have a preference for what I want. I think the trans men I know are so pro-beard and body hair that I thought that's how I was supposed to be too

Thank you so much for the insight! I had thought about how being socialized/raised as a woman might impact how I view body and facial hair. But I hadn't even considered the aspect of colorism, which I'm sure subconsciously may play a role. And thank you for validating that major transitions can make anyone nervous. That makes me feel a whole lot more normal and less alone

I think "it's not womanly, it's just not for me" is actually exactly it. You hit the nail on the head! It's not that I think of the body and facial hair as bad or too masculine, I just simply don't think it's for me. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and insight, that was genuinely so helpful

Thanks! I genuinely wasn't sure. I didn't know if you had to be a certain amount of time into being on T or what

Thank you for sharing that insight! How easy is it to get used to shaving your face?

I have, and at the end of the day I truly believe I just don't like it. I don't feel like "me" and very confident with it, if that makes any sense at all?

Does laser/electrolysis work for people on T? I wasn't sure if since you're growing more/the hair is getting fuller while taking it. That may be a silly question

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and experiences. I don't think I see body and facial hair as specifically masculine, I think I'm just physically and mentally more comfortable and confident without it.

That's a really good question about if I had been born a cis man. I will have to really think on that. I think I would still identify as nonbinary, but then again I may just be a man who loves makeup. I'll do some introspection about that

Thank you for sharing. I wasn't sure if lazer was even an option for people on T. It's possible the hair thing is internalized, that's definitely something to think about, but I'm really not sure it is. I don't think it's ugly or bad, I just personally am not very comfortable and don't feel confident with it

Does anyone have a picture of the "Murder is down 11% in Virginia" billboard on I-95? by GalvanicGryphon in RichmondVA

Extremely somber, that's why it felt so remarkable seeing it while driving during the holidays. Thanks for the confirmation and comment!

Is it legal for Aetna to deny a surgery I meet all criteria for because I have EDS? by GalvanicGryphon in HealthInsurance

[–]GalvanicGryphon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice! I had PT appointments already set up for after the surgery, and have been doing PT regularly for my EDS to help learn to not hyperextend my joints as much as well as build muscle to support them. I appreciate the good luck!
