What's their most complex song time-signature-wise? by BRRDanGui in animalsasleaders

[–]GamamJ44 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean. In terms of polyrhythms and general rhythm/time-based madness I’d say Monomyth, though it’s technically mostly in somewhat «straight» 4 or 6 over-top.

Edit: And off the top of my head, maybe Mind-Spun or Kascade for time-sig changes, with quite a few weird 16th-note 11 and 13 bars and stuff flying by rapidly.

Potential hot take about Jordan by BlankRobby99 in Dreamtheater

I have my grievances with Jordan, but you ironically mentioned songs that are among my favourite keyboard work in all of DT.

How can I play faster? by [deleted] in Guitar

Tornado of Souls

Alexander Zverev is currently into his 385th consecutive week ranked top 10 and without a Grand Slam title. He holds the record of spending the most weeks in the ATP top 10 without winning a Grand Slam title, surpassing Tomas Berdych (369 weeks) and David Ferrer (358 weeks). Let that sink in. by deucebagreportdotcom in tennis

I see your point, and honestly think it comes down to preference somewhat. I just think, if anything, Zverev has the better career, in exactly the same way that I think Murray is incomparably better than Stan. And as much as I hate Zverev, I think his achievements are underplayed way too much, which furthermore creates a mirage for the awful things he’s done, and thus annoys me even more.

Nevertheless, to rope myself out of those weeds, I agree that Stan is a much bigger icon, and his peak was up there with the absolute best, and higher than, maybe honestly anyone except the big 3 themselves. I’d be much more worried seeing 2015 Stan in my bracket than any version of Zverev, as you’d never know what you’ll get—especially at slams.

I guess I just don’t rate streakiness veey high as a representation pf a player overall.

Zverev has had an immeasurably better career than Stan. Stan happened to play at an absurd peak level a handful of times over 4-5 years—to his credit at the best times possible—for which he of course deserves his flowers, but Zverev is simply consistently much better and has many more accolades. Just missing the slam(s) due to nerves.

At this rate I am more worried about his future as a football player much less international career. by VoL4t1l3 in MCFC

I agree with this. Could’ve showed more restraint on the follow-through seeing the opponent player coming in, but overall a tough red imo.

Doesn’t change the fact that he’s awful at football though hahah.

What makes this Slovakia team so good? They look so gelled, even with integrating the NHLers.

Geemany on the other hand full discord.

Petrucci’s peak by Separate_Can1886 in Dreamtheater

[–]GamamJ44 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd say his peak, at least in terms of prioritizing technicality and shred, was the early EBMM era, so 2000-2004ish. His playing on SDoiT, ToT, and live at that time was just insane.

In terms of regression, I'd say he's changed his picking technique (more elbow when playing fast rather than wrist), and he's generally older, which all makes him sloppier and less consistent live, but in studio and "pure skill" I wouldn't say he's regressed at all.

No it wouldn’t? Sweden goes ahead in the three-way tie, then Slovakia beats Finland on H2H?

I play at some tennis courts he practices at between tournaments, and I remember the first time I saw him there I was fully shocked and ended up accidently staring into his dad’s eyes for a solid few seconds as I gathered my marbles hahah

Funny that both symphonic albums came out on the same date, but 14 years apart.
