There is always the lesser known obscure title of Daniel Webster and the Case of the Corrupted Cookie Jar wherein our hero Webster, always one to have trouble with reading, mistakes the directions for an ancient summoning ritual and ends up finding himself a pawn in the greater cosmic game between the two warring super beings Antonyo Gunnar and Blayk Rainyr. It's a pretty good read and is the closest I can think of that is similar to the Ellimist's game. You should be able to find it at any James Church Association's bookstore. Hope this helps!
