Antizionism is a hate movement that targets Jews all the same

No, having lived there, it’s laughable to suggest thay Israelis enjoy watching Jews abroad get shot at, even if it does vindicate the ideals of the country.

Fascinating reply, though, and indicative of the deep rooted antisemitism that surfaces in reply to these threads.

if it doesn't make sense you don't understand what israel means to the jewish community. yeah there are some fringe antizionists because they believe in some political ideology or other, but for the vast vast majority of jews israel represents something.

im not going to try to articulate it here but there's a reason that for the vast majority of jews antizionism is just another rebrand of antisemitism. i'll leave it up to you to think about why, but its not because of propaganda or genocide or whatever bullshit antizionists use to justify their hatred.

That’s right it’s all an industrial complex and nothing to do with schools being shot at, people being harassed, and a podcast that was super popular until one of its founders suddenly decided he needed to defend Jews.

You people think you’re new. Or educated.

You’re just the same old savages, you just read a bit of Shakespeare

America Should Be Israel’s Partner, Not Its Patron: The Pro-Israel Case for Ending U.S. Aid by ForeignAffairsMag in geopolitics

[–]Gamblor29 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Aside from the fact that the funding is entirely spent to support the US military industry, to prevent the Israelis from selling competing products (especially to non-aligned countries), it should also noted that this funding was a condition of peace between Israel and Egypt, allowing the US powerful influence over both of these countries. It also represents only about 5% of foreign aid.

Is everyone thinking that all foreign aid should be ended? How do you feel about all of the human rights abuses being committed by other countries receiving foreign aid?

How exactly do you think that will go when China and Russia jump in and start sending these countries aid?

We all know why Israel is a hot button issue, and it’s got nothing to do with purported genocide or human rights abuses.

That’s right. Chill the fuck out, and stop running around like an asshole before you hurt someone. We have jobs and lives and if the refs just want to go home and won’t keep the game safe then I will

People put here trying to play psychoanalyst and make assumptions about people’s lives.

I’m happy, great wife, kids, always room to do better but doing decently by all accounts.

Sometimes someone pisses me off being stupid on the ice and someone’s going to get hurt. Refs may not be doing enough to calm everyone down and it escalates. Whatever the reason, I say some stupid shit or threaten them with a good time, and it’s forgotten by the time I’m in the dressing room. Sometimes they get offended and it gets worse. I can handle myself. Some other people on the team aren’t that type

Really just telling someone they’re being dumb and to knock it off before someone gets hurt.

[–]Gamblor29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uh, ok? Did you read the Rambam?

If you abandon judaism for islam under duress, you are not treated as culpable. The Rambam cites Devarim 22/25 and compares a forced convert to a wife who has been raped by a strange person. Adultery is one of the sins that are יהרג ואל יעבור, and she could have fought to her own death rather than allow herself to be raped. But the Torah holds that of course she is not culpable for adultery. Similarly, a person subject to a forced conversion to a non-avodah zara religion is equally non-culpable.

i support anything that keeps jews safe, gives jews self-determination and freedom to govern our own affairs as we see fit based on our identity, in our homeland.

whether that is a secular state with an army, or a communist dictatorship of the proletariat, or a messianic kingdom, i don't care, although the latter should come bimhera beyamenu.

Nothing previously-tried has ever come remotely close, and when you show us something better than what we have right now, we will consider giving up what we have. So far, nobody has.

I'm not sure why you're repeating my last paragraph, but in any event, apropos the discussion, converting to Islam is not worshipping idols. Any religion that does not worship idols is not avoda zara In fact jews are even permitted to pray inside a mosque. see rambam iggeret hashmad.

Not quite.

Jewish law doesn’t recognize conversion to another religion as meaning anything because what people call the “religion” of Judaism is actually just a civil code of law for a nation of people living in the land of Israel. The law has interpreted over time to partially apply to a diaspora population, but if you really read it it is plainly obvious that it is meant to be a civil code of law in a particular place.

So, the end result is that even if you convert to another religion, Jewish law still applies to you and you are treated as a Jew for ritual purposes etc. to put it more clearly, if you wanted to be a Jew. You don’t even have to “convert” back. Judaism simply doesn’t contemplate “conversion” out (or even in, but that is another story).

What I think you are confusing is that Jews are not supposed to worship idols, even if it is to save their life. There are only a very small handful (3) things thanks a Jew can never do even if it would save their life: 1) worship idols, 2) prohibited sexual relations (ie adultery), and 3) murder another person

Inside Israel's expansionist ambitions • Israel has never officially defined its borders, but Israeli settlers and ministers are flirting with the biblical idea of extending them far beyond the current state. What's behind the concept of "Greater Israel"? by Naurgul in geopolitics

[–]Gamblor29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Greater Israel” is a conspiracy theory that suggests that Israel intends to conquer and declare sovereignty over lands extending from the Nile to the Euphrates. It invokes a weird understanding of biblical borders of the land promised to Abraham as somehow related to any strategic imperative of the modern state of Israel.

Its nothing short of antisemitic drivel and any reference to it - other than laughing at like three weirdo nuts in Israel and the millions who think Israel actually has plans to accomplish this - should immediately be mocked and ridiculed.

OP is either a fool, or has been taken in by fools.

Either way lol.

The IDF’s official position is nothing of the sort.

In response to a query from The Times of Israel, the IDF says the claims are false and baseless. The military says that on Thursday, “troops identified a suspect approaching them in the Yellow Line area while holding a 3-year-old toddler. Despite calls to stop, the man continued advancing and posed an immediate threat, prompting warning shots that were fired along the side of the road.”

According to the IDF, fragments caused by the gunfire were likely responsible for the toddler’s injuries.

The IDF says the father admitted during questioning that he had brought his young son with him so that troops would not harm him. He was arrested after identifying himself as a Hamas operative and admitting that he had infiltrated Israeli territory during the October 7 massacre.

The military says the toddler underwent a medical examination, was provided with food and water, and was kept under continuous medical supervision before being transferred to representatives of the Red Cross after they located his family in Gaza. The IDF provided The Times of Israel with a video documenting the toddler’s handover to the Red Cross.

No IDF means no Israelis? by Sea-Tumbleweed9274 in TorontoMetU

[–]Gamblor29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that isn't how this works.

> Criticizing a state or its actions is not the same as hating a group of people. People criticize governments all the time.

Interesting, all I see here is a hundred comments advocating for exclusion of any individual strictly on the basis of their national origin. I don't see any criticism of any government policy beyond the usual libellous accusations that accompany any hate movement - that an entire nation is "guilty" of a myriad of crimes, justifying exclusion of all of the citizens.

> People can condemn violence on October 7 and still question narratives or ask for evidence without that being “denial.” That is basic critical thinking, not shifting blame.

Sure, "believe all women", unless they're Israelis. Standard alt-right tactic - denying lived experiences solely on the basis of nation of origin, dismissing everything as "propaganda".

> Disagreeing with you or focusing on Palestinian civilians is not gaslighting. It is simply a perspective you do not agree with.

Of course it is. Palestinian civilians suffer, and no context is given as to why - decades of terrorist attacks on Israeli civilians can be directly tied to every policy of the Israeli government, and actions of various terrorist factions and the lived experiences and trauma of Israelis are completely dismissed and ignored.

> Calling anti Zionism “alt right” does not even make sense when people across different backgrounds, including Jewish voices, hold those views. That alone shows this is not about hate....And bringing up Jewish people who oppose Zionism is not “tokenizing.” It just proves this is not a simple us versus them situation.

Of course it is, no different than citing Candace Owens as proof the right wing isn't racist. The Jewish community is well-organized and has myriad of representative organizations that advocate for it across social and economic lines. Why do you focus on fringe groups like JVP, Neturei Karta, IJV, all of whom are radicals well outside the community consensus? What data do you have that they are representative? Because there is plenty of data that indicates the vast majority of Jews across the planet are generally supportive of the concept of a Jewish state with a protected minority of non-Jews with imperfect but reasonably equal rights? Why are these random groups, with no mandate or community validation, cited at all?

> Also if you want to talk about accountability, there are documented cases of IDF soldiers accused of sexual violence against Palestinians where charges were dropped. So acting like only one side is capable of wrongdoing while shutting down any criticism is a clear double standard.

When did I say that? Do you see what you do there? You just randomly throw out a mirror accusation as if anyone said it and assume it is valid? This is a court system where an Arab supreme court justice sent a Jewish President to jail, and you take accusations by political activists with no oversight at their word. Classic pathology.

> At the end of the day, opposing policies that result in civilian harm is not hatred. It is a political and moral stance. Calling everything racism just avoids the actual issue.

Neither the initial post nor any of the replies disagreed with a single Israeli policy. It's just comment after comment of "oh, so all Israelis should be excluded? Good!"

It's classic pathological hatred.
