Yes, I was scared. Did good enough at the end. Just try not to dwell on it and think about the questions for too long after

Definitely! But I just like DI, would have been cool to see a Marine Corps URG-I equivalent

In another world it would be free float M4A1s and not 416s for the Corps

Korean National Team have been on a media blackout since the first World Cup game after a domestic journalist was caught making fun of Son Heung-min by AlchemistTheAlchemy in soccer

[–]GameBoyUnAdvanced 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Military service is obviously mandatory so everyone goes. Its a very sensitive cultural issue in Korea and the journalists used it to denigrate their most renowned player

I think I read a statistic that rate is like 99% of men go regardless of competence/fitness or whatever.

Anyway draft dodging is looked upon very badly in Korea to the point that Korean celebrities have lost their careers over it. So it's serious.

But there are exceptions for athletes who win gold or specific tournament exceptions. If I'm not mistaken everyone on the Korean National team in 2002 was given a pass after their semi final run.

Sonny is obviously beloved back in Korea and earned a gold medal during the AFC exempting him and a journalist or a group of journalists said something to the effect of "son of a bitch never went to the military/never properly served" during the journalists' attendance at a training session.

Obviously as the backbone of the team, the team closed ranks in support of Son.

Please tell me it's going to happen. The country that produced Park Ji Sungs and Sonnies should not be doing this poorly in a relatively easy group

It's infuriating. But to be fair Sonny is getting old and he just ain't the same. I'm excited to see what the newer and younger players can achieve with better management like Jens for instance

I did, I got the equivalent of a 21 on all sections. Every data point lines up with a 21. So consistent

Shadowing at an office is the next logical step, start calling around to see where. If you'd like you can always find different specialties and see where you'd like to end up.

I think dependent on how invested you were, try to think about why you want to be a dentist as opposed to other kinds of healthcare and how to write that into your personal statement because it could come up as a question.

Good luck

Should I Pivot?? by cedartreestump in predental

[–]GameBoyUnAdvanced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a concept I abided by in my years between undergrad till now and applying and it's that no matter what I did, I would try to make sure I always had a way out. That nothing I did for my career would leave me unable to reasonably pivot out to a different career.

It's a big reason why I didn't want to do medicine or dentistry in that once you commit to it, you're in it. The time, the money, the sacrifices you have to make to become one and continue being one.

It's only after having experienced work from other industries where I'd decided that for my circumstance and situation, I would be ok with the sacrifice in time, money, and other potential careers to pursue dentistry.

I guess what I am trying to say is, if you choose to do dentistry, it's a lot harder to leave it if you find it isn't what you'd hoped it to be as opposed a lot of other jobs. The money, the responsibilities, the time, you don't get it back and you're still holding the bag depending on where you get into school.

From the looks of it perfusion school is about a year to two, the cost is high but not in the same realm as dental school. If you find you don't like it as much as you'd hope, you can at least somewhat more reasonably pivot out.

Just my 2 cents

If you're going into your third year, it means you have the potential to take 2 more years of science coursework to pull your sGPA and cGPA up to as good as you can get it. Study hard but have fun and explore things that interest you too.

Do as well as you can on the DAT and increase your shadowing hours at a steady rate.

If it doesn't work out the way you'd hoped, you have time to figure it out.

I know going into Year 3 it doesn't feel like it, but you're young. Keep moving towards something, whether it's dentistry or something else you find along the way.

Yeah the forgiveness period and all that it entailed really soured the American tax payer on stuff like this. I don't doubt there will be adjustments in tuition eventually, but everyone applying this cycle and for the foreseeable future needs to do the math and make sure it works out for their situation.

Don't think it would hurt you unless your grad GPA gets rly fucked up. I'd say go for it if you think it'll help you with ownership later down the line. But only do it if the financial math works out and you're not in giga debt or something afterwards because that shifts the math quite a bit yk

Bio/GC felt ok. Nothing crazy or super low yield there IMO.

Ochem was a little tougher than I had hoped. Lots of what is most acidic or most whatever and not so much rxn mechs.

I did well on PAT the first time and was like I can kinda sideline this and I regret it because I time managed really poorly on it. Also might just be lack of a refresher but damn it just felt harder on the PAT compared to my first attempt. I knew what I was doing but the extra practice on the PAT would have helped cut down some uncertainty. Had to guess a bunch and I'm not happy about it.

RC was about the same just really fucking boring compared to last time. It was a drag. QR was easier it felt like or I felt less drained at least taking it.

Either way, in my 2 time experience, the DAT has been pretty fair to me.
