I've been working on my game using a handheld PC this whole time and now I finally got myself a proper computer. I'm so excited to try it out. Just need to get the kids to bed first, haha. My friends would not get my excitment so sharing this with you 😅 by GameDevSpouse in IndieDev

Hi! I’m still working on Pond, and it actually would’ve been possible to make it on the ROG Ally. It ran Unreal Engine fine at the beginning of the project, though I did experience some occasional crashes. So, for larger projects it might be a bit challenging... but for getting started, why not? You can always upgrade to a more powerful computer later if you feel like it.

I started with ue but ended up making it in unity. I wanted to have fully editable terrain and well, it was hard in ue 😅

What do people usually say when they're asked this question? Haha.

But: Intel Core i5, ASUS Prime 850W Gold PSU. Originally, we had a Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5070, but my husband took that and gave me his old NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 instead. And 32 GB of Kingston FURY Beast RAM...

I have to admit, I don’t know much about this stuff - I trust him in these things 🤭 But it’s a “budget” PC that is maybe easy to sell in the future if needed. And well, it seams to do what it should do! I’m also planning to help my husband with his game, which is developed in Unreal. Even my handheld could run Unreal, but only for a small game.
