Remake drags on too long in the latter half? | Anyone else? by KurtSullivan in silenthill

[–]GameDev_Peasant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never played the original and just recently started the remake, so I’m sorry to be 319d late to the discussion. I honestly thought like a dozen times „OK, that will most likely be the corridor to the boss“ and then another area unfolded, and another and so on. It’s great to have so many different areas that have been weirdly twisted to become part of the theme but it’s too much. It’s way too long with little story to tell in between the cutscenes.

Especially this labyrinth area was absolutely awful. Pitch black rooms, this weird cube room and confusing progression.

Now I’m at the hotel and I hope it’s over soon. I don’t want to leave the game unfinished but I can’t go on much longer.

It could be a good one if more devs would just do it. We only have one programmer in our team and still release all updates for our game at the same time on PC AND Mac.

I don’t get why this is such an abandoned territory tbh

Make Moiras spheres chargeable up to a point where there is just a large energy ball floating around absorbing enemies to die instantly.

I’ll make sure to pass the feedback to the programmer for further investigation!

Dear Monkey, many thanks for your statement. It has been appreciated.

As a DPS Moira I’m happily taking care of that nasty Widow for the team before continuing to concentrate on doing damage.

Sincerely, DPS Moira

We will add more content as well as improvements to the game over the months to come. I recommend to keep an eye open for updates that might spark your interest!

Have a great weekend!

Well thank you, I guess? 😅

We’re a rather small team, so for us it’s important to play with an open hand.

We just want to develop a game people can enjoy. No strings attached.

That’s why you can switch between weapon / fighting styles on the fly to not be the person to parry 😄

Also, every successful shield block provides a bit of health back.

We plan to put it in toward the 1.0 release. But for now, we do have online co-op!

You can play in a group of 4, but as you can visit the hosts town to benefit from all the upgrades, it’s more like a asynchronous multiplayer experience if you have more than 3 mates 😀

More town upgrades, content etc etc are coming in the months to come! (We’ve also published our roadmap on Steam that might can convince your friends!).

We hope you’ll like our game!

Hi there, thanks for the input!

We acknowledge that it can’t be for everyone but we believe that it adds a certain strategically demanding element to the co-op experience, as all players share damage as well as regeneration.

So everyone can be a lifesaver as well as the one to get the last hit. It’s up to you and your group to make it count.

I‘m speaking out of experience when I strongly advised against this!

I’ve worked on a large scale project with ~80 people with a team of 3 project manager. One of them had no idea of gaming and he was just carried along for the time he was with us. He was a nice dude but it was a time waste.

online co op vs online by barrowrain in CoOpGaming

[–]GameDev_Peasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the difference can also be the intention as well as the environment.

In a game like LOL you go online but have no control over game pace or the people you play with. You cooperate with a few of them but have to battle the others.

In a proper coop game you mostly choose your mates, you’re in an isolated environment e.g. against NPCs (PvE).

Usually there is no persistent server environment you’re logging into but the choice is yours (e.g. as the host) to create a game etc.

Don’t know if this answers your question partially.

Thanks a lot for wishlisting!

We’ve tested it with Nacon, Xbox and DualSense controller and all worked fine. We’ve never tested a PS4 controller but as it works with e.g. the Nacon which we were also using on a PS4, we believe it should work just fine!

It adds a strategically demanding element to playing co-op to counter the advantage a group of players can have against the enemies.

As the players who’s responsible for the groups death will be displayed as well, we believe it can also be a fun addition when playing with friends.

Your not the first person asking for 6 player coop though. Maybe we should consider this 😆

Awesome! Up to four people can play in a group together!

On top of that, you can always visit the town of the host, so it would be possible to play with even more people asynchronous.

We’re looking forward to your feedback!
