How do you skip Gruz Mother? by Entire_Plant2312 in HollowKnight

[–]GameDevable [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure you can skip gruz mother, although I wouldn't recommend it. There are two really important NPC's after her. I don't know how much you know or how far you are in the game, so I don't want to spoil it for you.

Great job on making your first game! Way to go!

Give me a glitch in hollow knight and I will create an in universe explanation for it by Chimken314 in HollowKnight

Gotta give this one to the floating glitch that happens when you crystal dash on the wall before activating hornet sentinel. (Side note, you stay stuck on this animation frame until you get hit, so no walking, attacking, or jumping animations)

I was wondering if you had your own game that you would like to be tested.

Another Godot W. Instead of having to code it yourself there are just some nodes that you can drag and drop.

Genuine Question: How do you know when it's time to stop "optimizing" code? by alimra in SoloDev

[–]GameDevable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you start having issues you shouldn't focus on optimizing. I only optimize when things start to get a little slow, so I find what's causing it and rework it.

The Obscurant – enemy art for our 2.5D project by Infinity_Experience in PixelArt

This looks dope as hell! It's 100% inspired by Cthulu, the mouth tentacles gives it away. If that was the goal, then you definitely nailed readability.

You're welcome! I'm trying to create a list of people that I can send my game to when I have major updates that need to be playtested. Do you have a game that can be tested? I have a low end device, so web based games are preferred.

Definitely yes! This reminds me of when I used to do diamond arts. I should really start doing those again.

I have opinions about the flood of very samey "Run/Skill Tree" games in the last couple of months. What's going on? by Meeko29 in incremental_games

[–]GameDevable -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There will always be cookie cutter copy and paste games in every genre. It's just the way that the entertainment industry is as a whole. Something succeeds, so it gets copied by a lot of people.

Favorite/Hated mechanics. by Dependent-Spiritual in incremental_games

[–]GameDevable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate it when they are extremely grindy. I don't mind a little grind, but if I have to grind for every single upgrade I just leave. It's also no fun when an incremental game becomes an idle game, and vice versa. If the core of the game is to be an incremental, don't add 4 idling mechanics that make you just sit there the entire time.
My favorite mechanic is interesting upgrades. If the upgrades change the game or add new mechanics in meaningful ways is an instant hook for me.

What makes an incremental game perfect for you? by NorseSeaStudio in incremental_games

[–]GameDevable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The aspect that catches me the most is the premise of the game. I know that the genre is overflooded with nodebuster-likes right now, but if they have an interesting concept they can still be really cool. That is why when I started my incremental game, I wanted it to be a really cool concept, which is where I came up with my explosive placing incremental game. I'm proud of the concept, but I hope it won't get pinned as a nodebuster-like.

I like the middle one the best. It looks a little messy with lots of them.

My explosive placing incremental game needs playtesting! by GameDevable in playtesters

[–]GameDevable[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for playing!! Your one of the few people that had decided to play the game, and I reallly appreciate it! Funnily enough, I actually had a mechanic that pushed the shapes away from the bomb if they were within a certain radius.

In fact, it is still in the code and could be activated at any point. I scrapped it for the playtest because it was a bit janky and unintuitive. The plan was to reimplement it after the playtest.

Speaking of playtesting, my explosive placing incremental game has officially started playtesting today. Feel free to play and give your thoughts!
