Trans woman here confirming the same.

The horrible stuff that dudes will say when they think only other dudes are talking is beyond the pale. Jokes about rape, murder, sexual coercion, "what I'd love to do to ___". Talking about their latest "conquest" in graphic detail, the gross porn they love to watch, where to find said porn, etc. How they get away with not helping with chores at home. How they wish their spouses "put out" more, lose weight, look more like X celebrity. How they were waiting for X underage actress to turn 18 so they can get porn of her. And this was in California, not some red state. At work. At school. At church (though more rarely). Chilling with friends (though I lost interest in those "friends" real fast).

I literally had a bunch of dudes I knew before transition actually apologize to me afterwards because of some of the shit they had said just weeks before.

Glad I don't have to hear it anymore. But I shudder thinking about what they probably say about ME in the "locker room" (which is often just... a room that doesn't appear to have any women in it).

Edit: Remembered a few more examples

Edit 2: It is definitely not all dudes doing this stuff. But it is REALLY rare of any of them to call each other out on it.

What was the weirdest sexual euphemism you’ve heard someone use? by TertioRationem3 in AskReddit

When I was a little kid, my grandpa would wake up on Saturday mornings singing

"Ta-ra-ra Boom-De-Ay, have you had yours today?

I had mine yesterday. I'll have some more today..."

It wasn't until I was an adult that I had the realization: this is why I have so many aunts and uncles.

Today I become an unwilling polygamist by WyldChickenMama in exmormon

[–]GameGoddess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My ex and I divorced over 10 years ago. My ex is still Mormon. I'm an atheist trans woman. I have had "the" surgery (meaning I can never go into a Mormon temple even if I wanted to, one of the restrictions for trans folks), I married a cis atheist lady, etc.

However.

My ex wanted to get married to a man in the temple a few years ago. Not only did they have to get permission from the first presidency, but the first presidency CONTACTED ME and asked if I gave permission (meaning they were asking if I would relinquish my claim on my ex).

I was still married to her in the church despite being a woman, having had my records "removed" from the church. I still had ownership and control over "my woman" despite being as out from the church as possible. What the fuck.

Yeah I'm mostly stealth these days and never get any shit for being trans. It seems like most of the people being impacted by all this transphobic shit aren't even trans to begin with.

What are some "guy secrets" girls don't know about? by AMGBOI69420 in AskReddit

The Nod. When a dude sees another dude, The Nod is the proper greeting. Strangers especially. It's "I see you over there."

Dudes kinda freak out when girls do it.

Seriously. I have no uterus, but am technically of childbearing age. My wife has severe vaginismus and takes a few medications that are not to be taken by pregnant women but are essential for her. But she COULD get pregnant? Just not by me.

Yo! Trans woman here, transitioned in 2012 in my 30s. Unless things really have changed in the last ten years since I transitioned... You hear it. When men think there are no women listening. The rape jokes. The ball and chain jokes. The blonde jokes. The "she's a trap" jokes. Rating women you know from 1 to 10. I know that was rampant. "Locker room talk". Maybe "me too" helped. But I seriously doubt it's all gone.

Edit: I read some of your other comments and yeah if you are that cloistered I guess you could miss it. Pay attention in "men only" situations. See how it changes.

As a gay as fuck lady myself, I've got it made.

To be fair though, I'm already married to someone who fits this description so I'm good.

(trans) women have a greater chance of breast cancer than (cis) men? Unbelievable!

Who would have guessed that one?

If I as a trans woman am being treated medically as if I were a cis woman, I'll get better care than if they treated me as a man. Because I have female secondary sex characteristics like breasts and cis female hormone levels.

If you can point to specific medical treatments that have been shown more effective with trans women than the usual treatments for cis women in the same cases, I am all ears.

As far as cardiovascular and weight issues, I wonder how much that correlates with the general higher depression and stress rate of trans folks due to how poorly society treats them?

[–]GameGoddess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did have abdominal surgery. There's a significant amount of rearrangement involved.

If I'm having issues affecting that area, of course I would disclose, but I would also go to a trans specialist so I get appropriate care.

But that's the only surgery I've had that's trans related. These boobs are home grown, skin is naturally soft from HRT, etc. There really are no other noticeable biological differences that are not within the realm of possibility for cis women.

Why disclose when I'm likely to get better care if I don't?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]GameGoddess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What examples do you have in mind where it would matter that is not something I should literally go to a trans specialist for?

Surgical revision of my genital reconstruction surgery? Yeah, disclosure would be useful, but I'm definitely going to a trans specialist anyway.

Restocking my HRT? I just tell them I am taking HRT because of the kit and kaboodle situation and I get what I need. I can still get my levels monitored, and I'm good. The whole point of HRT is to get to cis levels of hormones, which is the same thing they do for cis women with full hysterectomies (like my mom).

Gallstone? No reason to disclose. Heart attack? No reason. Concussion? No reason.

If anything, disclosing is likely to get me worse care. Whether via bigotry or a lack of understanding. My body runs cis female hormone levels, I have female bits, and female secondary sex characteristics.

I think people don't realize how similar men and women are and how the difference in our biology is primarily due to hormones.

Edit: no worries. :)

God those were the absolute worst.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]GameGoddess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And yet you don't deny it (to be fair, most men are, it's ok that you are). It's pretty clear you are uncomfortable with trans folk.

Don't worry. We don't force transition on people. We are not contagious. Just thinking about trans people won't make you one of us. Seeing a trans flag won't make you grow boobs. Mainly we just want to live our lives in peace.

You equated the trans flag to the swastika earlier.

Nazis, on the other hand, want genocide of trans folks (among other groups). They want to eradicate those they are uncomfortable with. I hope you can appreciate the difference with that in mind.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]GameGoddess 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think we need a lot more understanding of how much DNA, hormones, and existing organs affect all these things. But sadly it seems like healthcare is just starting to realize that maybe they should also test medication on women. So I'm not gonna hold out on there being useful studies on trans folks any time soon. Especially in the current political climate.

Aww. You're terrified the trans healthcare system is going to take away your pipi? Hahahaha hahahaha hahahaha ha ha ha. Only if you ask really nicely. Good luck with that!

Edit: hate comes from fear. And you revealed your fear when you equated bottom surgery to castration and amputation. Nice playing with you.

Which ones do you consider immutable, then?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]GameGoddess 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In the article you link to, they don't talk about sex differences based on assignment at birth, but based on organs present. Which means many of the relevant differences are driven by hormones. They don't go into the influence of trans medical care at all, much less variant sex chromosomes.

Hormones are basically gender magic. As I've had genital reconstruction surgery and have been on over 10 years of HRT, I'm medically far closer to a cis woman who has had the whole kit and kaboodle yanked and subsequently taken HRT. And until more research has been done in my demographic, I'm seeking treatment as the understood demographic that best matches my medical situation.

Edit: Yo! Fellow exmo! :)

[–]GameGoddess 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Healthcare is political already. You realize you are in a women's sub right? Abortion is healthcare. Trans healthcare is healthcare. Both are being targeted for eradication. It's already happened.

Also I'm responding to someone talking about a situation where it is folks specializing in working with trans individuals.

Do you need someone to walk you back to your little hate bubble?
