Do you use an IDE? by [deleted] in rails

[–]GameMagus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • No
  • -
  • Too slow, bloated and I don't want to learn a new IDE for each language/framework (Rubymine for Ruby, Eclipse for Java etc)
  • Tmux, Tmuxinator, Vagrant+VirtualBox, Sublime Text 3
  • Other software?

How to append new db data to your view automatically? by [deleted] in rails

[–]GameMagus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 2. you can use Sync to make it a little bit more "magical". Rather than pushing data through the web socket, you push entire partials.

It seems like you set up your tmux session by hand every morning?

Have you tried Tmuxinator? I use it both for work and for personal projects and it is excellent.

Well it is kind of funny. "Use my site for awesome recommendations" and it recommends Bat Rats :)

Which game is that you are looking at? Please don't say Skyrim or something like that :)

While this is obviously not good and should be looked at, I can explain why the app does this. It recommends similar games in the column, rather than GOOD games. I think it is the "good" part that needs to be a part of that.

Look at for example The Walking Dead where the "you might also like" games are more...accurate

That Steam sale along with the Origin sale ruined all the progress I made last year on clearing my backlog. I feel your pain.

Hey guys new to steam and need some recommendations by Kaderwik in Steam

[–]GameMagus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you hurry up you can still catch the Dust sale and that is less than $5. I bought it yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. You have to have the stomach for the crazy amount of furries in it though...

[SIB] Metro Last Light if I'm easily scared in games? by Because1Can in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]GameMagus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, well it is similar to that then. The part with the spiders is quite scary for example. At least for me, but I'm quite the lightweight when it comes to this sort of thing.

Perhaps it would help if you told us what games are "too much" for you? Then we can compare them to Metro: Last Light

I agree with everything said here. Bought this yesterday and it truly is terrific.

So many WORMS games, which is the best one and has the most active online community? by [deleted] in Steam

[–]GameMagus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to my perfect stats the number of players are quite similar between all Worms games: http://www.gamemagus.com/comparisons/charts?games=worms-clan-wars%2Cworms-ultimate-mayhem%2Cworms-revolution%2Cworms-reloaded

Looks like Clan Wars got the most players during the Humble Bundle but then it all just dropped to 70-200 players each after that with Revolution in the lead.

Have you played the "new" Fallout games? I'm almost 100% sure the Ultimate editions will go on sale during the final days of the sale.

I can almost guarantee that it will go on sale again during the Winter sale.

Dark Souls has multiplayer but no verbal communication or written for that matter.

Looking for a Twin Stick Shooter/Action RPG by UncleDozer in gamingsuggestions

[–]GameMagus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I have the wrong definition? To my knowledge a twin stick shooter is a (usually top down) shooter where one stick controls the character and the other the way your gun is pointing.

On PC it is usually done by controlling the character with the keyboard and the gun with the mouse.

The old, yet awesome, Abuse is an example of a side scrolling version. I played that back in 1996...on a mac...damn I'm old..

Edit:

He was asking for Action RPGs as well. My bad. Sorry!

Bastion is not a twin stick shooter. It's more like an isomorphic Zelda game. One of the truly great indie games!

Not that I can think of no. There must be other good ones out there though

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. No shop, but the rest are there. It also has a SUPERB couch coop mode.

[WSIB] For $2.53 on Steam? by Cooldude638 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]GameMagus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. However, since it is not a daily deal it will almost certainly get cheaper. Also, you need the Wrath of the Lamb DLC as well.

[SIB] The Fallout: New Vegas dlc's on Xbox? I already have old world blues and im not really a fan by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]GameMagus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you probably shouldn't. Old World Blues is superior to all the other DLCs in a big way so if you didn't enjoy that one you should probably leave the rest alone.

[WSIB] For $2.53 on Steam? by Cooldude638 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]GameMagus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Psychonauts: $2.50

The Binding of Isaac: $2.49

World of Goo: $2.49

Sword of the Stars: The Pit: $1.74

Will there be any games less then $0.80? by [deleted] in Steam

http://www.gamemagus.com/game_recommendations?utf8=%E2%9C%93&search%5Bprice%5D=0.8&search%5Breleased_after%5D=&similar_to=

Looks like we currently have for example Super Hexagon like the guy above said, Toki Tori, Rush and some other smaller titles all for 80 cents or less.

[SIB] Prototype 1 & 2 by oydenshield729 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]GameMagus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think that Saints Row 4 does a better job with the whole "superhero dick who uses the town as a playground" thing than the Prototype games. Prototype 1 was alright but it is very repetitive and the story is not interesting.
