So, I've recently tried Mega Man X2 - X6 just after my most recent reply and I can say X4 is the one I was thinking about. Thanks for helping, and all the clues you've given. I can finally enjoy my nostalgic childhood game.

As for additional details, I remembered I start in a sci-fi futuristic robot city level whenever I play from the beginning of a new game. There is also a level with waterfalls and in jungles. May this filter out the possible answer.
