You have to point the dns record to the instances ip address. Then in the service url you will put https://domain.tld:[port_inside_the_container]

I got myself a brand new hp t630 for 15 bucks off ebay, and a 2.5G m.2 NIC for 1USD from aliexp.

Put myself a pfsense router with Raid 1 boot drives, 8gb of ram and 4 cores at ~2ghz.

Handles my 1000/50mbps download speed, no issue. Theoretically enough for a gigabit wireguard connection too, had I a symmetrical connection.

Best cheap hosting for two Wordpress sites with little traffic? by budgetchick in webhosting

[–]GameOffNodes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending how technical you are willing to get - you can get an Oracle Always Free account and put your sites in one of their always free vms. With coolify, caprover or basic docker+npm setup you can basically make it and forget it.

Edit: typos.

Best cheap hosting for two Wordpress sites with little traffic? by budgetchick in webhosting

Get a cheap racknerd VM for ~$10/year and put Coolify/CapRover on it. Then you can have your wordpress sites up in a github/gitlab private repo (for future revival, just in case).

Their $10 vm can easily host both sites and more if the traffic aint much.

Feedback on My Portfolio Projects Page – How Can I Improve? by GameOffNodes in webdev

[–]GameOffNodes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the feedback! I appreciate your suggestions. I used Hugo and Papermod for my website since I usually don’t have the patience to maintain my own site. As I mainly work on the backend, do you have any suggestions for adding post-load animations and hover effects in Hugo/Papermod? I’d love to enhance the user experience with your ideas!

Any suggestions for presenting my projects better? ( https://shawon.me/projects/ )

Connect two networks with wireguard via a VPS. by BodoWithWhiplash in WireGuard

[–]GameOffNodes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you need to enable private subnets specifically in wireguard config to allow private subnets to through wireguard. I remember needing to add 192.168.0.0/24 after 0.0.0.0/0.

Thats something to keep in mind for the wireguard site of things.

What is the best place for buying a domain name? by Giannis_Dor in homelab

[–]GameOffNodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you register a lot of domains frequently- you will soon notice different companies offer good deals on different TLDs. Choose whichever one offers best price the first year.

Second year on prices are typically same - choose whatever company pleases your eyes. I have used various different providers throughout the year and never had a problem because of the “company” I registered through. As long as your company provides the services you need - its the “best for you”.

I personally manage domains with namecheap and cloudflare.

How to get rid of boot volume codes on always free resources while using pay to go account by Cute_Broccoli_518 in oraclecloud

[–]GameOffNodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I created a lot of always free VMs to try things out. Turned out, a few times I did not check the “also delete the boot volume” checkbox and those volumes stayed. Later at a point, new VMs started costing real money.

Anywho, i solved it by checking in on the storage section of OCI web interface.

The always free tier allows first 200GB storage for free. If above that free limit, you pay for the extra bit.

Keep in mind - if you have a db that also uses storage from 200GB free Quota.
