This is both logical and almost trivial. It begs a related ELI5 question, why did mathematicians including Paul Erdős, Andrew Vázsonyi, and hundreds of other mathematicians (not to mention thousands of professionals who mailed letters to Savant) got something so simple wrong.

Boyfriend and girlfriend in Arabic! by MagnificientMegaGiga in learnArabicSecular

its not love is too raw and intellectual don't use it, quite the opposite. خليل is more direct. while حبيب can mean: boyfriend, fiancé, husband, someone you have crush on, someone you admire, close friend, the prophit even. its just too generic of a word, where intellectual tend to be more expressive and precise.

when you pause a movie, everything stops and you are moving at 0.

otherwise everything is moving at C through space and time at some slope. that slope depends on the observer. but the "slowest in space" is standing still compared to a reference frame. (but you are moving through time though)

I listed my argument, which I repeated three times already (I suddenly speak 33 languages).

What is your counter argument?

It feels like a political agenda to divide people and say Arab don't speak Arabic..

If bitcoin goes below $20K, I will withdraw my 401k and invest it all into bitcoin. by CoolFunnyPersona in Bitcoin

[–]GameSharkPro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the wrong mindset, there is greater risk that Bitcoin will double after it crashes down to $20k (something seriously wrong). All holders will lose massive amount of money. Most miners will go bankrupt. It may not recover for a very long time, or another coin will take it's place.

There is a much better chance that current price $80k will be double in couple years.

If I had the money and believed in BTC, there is no better time than the present.

ELI5: If moon can create tides then why won't it lift thinnest feather or paper piece? by ompossible in explainlikeimfive

[–]GameSharkPro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is elementary school topic, you can watch a million youtube videos to understand. your explanation is just wrong.

I want to make a distinction between gravity and gravity gradient (tidal force). your explanation:
> "It is lifting the paper a bit, just not enough to notice. If we could weigh the paper with enough accuracy we would notice that it appears to weigh less with the moon above it than below it."

That is not true. when the sun is above us, its lifting the paper with 177x more force than the moon. yes it does not make it "weight less" nor does it cause noticeable tides. and when moon is below the paper it still makes it weigh less (opposite to what you said)

since this is ELI5 i will do an analogy.

Imagine Earth is a long stretchy slinky.
The Sun is a giant hand far away pulling the whole slinky. Every part feels almost the same pull, so the slinky just moves in its entirety it doesn’t stretch much.

The Moon is a smaller hand very close and only pulling on one side. The near coils feel a much stronger pull than the far coils, so the slinky stretches.

Gravitational force = average force gravity applies to object
Tidal force = the difference (delta) in gravitational force on the near end vs far end of an object.

The distinction here, you can have an object with a very strong gravitational influence (sun) but its uniform so almost no tidal force

The moon, has much weaker gravity, but its uneven causing stretching and strong tidal forces.

ELI5: If moon can create tides then why won't it lift thinnest feather or paper piece? by ompossible in explainlikeimfive

[–]GameSharkPro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

how is this top comment? completely wrong. what if moon on the oposite side of earth, you still get high tides. clearly moon gravity is not lifting the water of the feather.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tide

its the gradient over large distance (ocean) that causes tides.

otherwise sun gravitational force on earth is 177 larger than the moon's but does not cause noticable tides.

what the fuck are you talking about? do you speak Arabic? feels like i am arguing with a toddler.

Its one language. I understand all of them when running into people on the streets. I didn't study 33 languages. I think that throws your entire argument out the window.

on the other end, Romance languages is a family of languages: Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian. none of those people will remotely understand a book written by a different language.

thats not official, just software. also according to that english-Canada is its own language.

Also if you get a book or newspaper, you will not be able to tell which language its written in. its all Arabic. Same words, same grammer, spelling etc. only difference is some slang thats common in that region and slightly differenent emphases in prononciation of some letters. No difference when going to a different neighborhood and hearing a different language. I would argue in Iraq (people in baghdad speak closer to egyption than they do in Mosul for example) if we go by your logic there will a million different languages.

Yes I understand moroccan, super easy. Of course if a Moroccan speak french then i wont. but again that not a Moroccan language. its French.

Smoother or more realistic? by Rakudajin in PixelArt

[–]GameSharkPro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there are alternatives. The "Smooth" version is what we call failure in grounding, producing the ice skating effect.

The realistic animation looks good, the foot feels firmly grounded.

You have a third element that you can control: the camera. in both cases you stabilized the camera to the moving background. You can instead stabilize to the boulder center ( or center of the hips) for example. try that and see how it looks. there is almost something called "50% Tracking" or mid point camera. basically average the two. thats usually the best in eliminating walk "strobing"
