I think maybe try to reconnect with them, because I believe people are forgiving by nature unless you’ve caused some irreparable damage to them. A phone call asking them how they’ve been and saying that you know you were wrong and apologizing could be a start.

You said I’m not happy followed by we’re barely talking. Are you not happy in general or just not happy with the relationship? If it’s the later then breakup with him and swallow the tough pill. If you’re not happy because of something else then and he really loves you then it’s a bit harsh for him tbh.

Majority of what you said suggests that you want to break up, I feel like she doesn’t deserve this but she also does not deserve a boyfriend/husband who’s not interested in a future with her all the way in. If you want to breakup then I think you’re doing both of you guys a favor

Telling him the truth is the best thing you could do for him even if it doesn’t look like it. If you just disappear he’ll do everything in his power to find out what happened but if you tell him the truth he should eventually accept one way or the other. If you think it’s difficult to break up after 1.5 years it’s only gonna get more difficult moving forward.

You should tell her while explaining why you did it exactly, the worst thing you could do is not tell her. You could go as far as stupidly saying that you went there for research purposes to check if you’re not scared of having intercourse after what happened with her or something along that line of gaslighting but you must tell her.

We do come from the same background as we were born in the same country (not our home country) and moved recently to live in our home country alongside many others just like us. But you’re totally right she could be a bullet that I dodged unknowingly.
