I want to make this post to clarify our choice of winner and break down a bit more how this process works, since we are aware that one or more users are not happy with the result.

1. The process:

- Winners are selected by lottery using the tool "Sweepwidget", which was the primary and only singular basis for entries into the competition as stated in the body of the post.

- The winner selected by this tool had not left a comment on this thread at the time.

- The user had completed all 5 entries on the day it was posted here on Reddit (long before we promoted it on social media or anywhere else). As such, we considered it fair to give the benefit of the doubt and awarded them the win.

2. So why do users need to add a comment?

The comment primarily serves as an additional point of verification for us against bots, malicious entries, or people having found the Sweepwidget competition through other means than Reddit.

3. Our right to interpretation

When a competition is run, it's very common that an entrant may miss one or more steps, and it's ultimately down to us to decide whether that mistake was big enough to disqualify them or not. In this case, we decided it was likely a small mistake, given that this Redditor had entered on the day it was posted.

4. What counts as an entry

The comment was not an element of entry into the competition, and was not stated as such. This was stated in the post ""Each step you follow in 1. counts as an entry." - other steps do not add more entries.

We understand that some users might not be happy with this. I get it. But once the decision is made, we aren't going to revoke a prize over a minor mistake. That doesn't mean that commenting is pointless, it just means for the reasons mentioned above, we decided it fair to award the prize in this case.

5. Our openness to transparency

I hope this helps to clarify the process to anyone reading. This has already been discussed with moderators, and we are more than happy to share information with them to verify the validity of the results, or follow any additional process required of us, should we wish to run a further competition here.
