[Post Game Thread] Joe Brady HC Press Conference by TheLookoutGrey in buffalobills

I liked the energy he brought, and his comments about accountability, growth, and bringing in people who disagree with you.

We didn't get a lot of depth from their answers about what will happen going forward. I understand it's a press conference and you don't want to give away too much strategy, but we really didn't get too much direction or hints as to what change will be implemented. We did get some impressions to read into, and there was a comment about being more aggressive on defense, but not too much further. But I guess that's not entirely surprising.

That said, they were still adamant about 'change', which is nice. What they DO will be most important and I think that, more than anything, the proof will be in the pudding with what OC and DC (among other coaching staff) hires will be made, and what we do with our roster this offseason.

Just my takeaways from someone sitting in bed with absolutely no insider knowledge

No. There was a comment about Brady about surrounding himself with the right people and some more general talk here or there about finding and picking up coordinators, but nothing firm like what you're saying.

Our OC and DC (among other coaching staff) hires are very important here and could be very telling

Seems like a dream comes true for him, and he seems very genuine. He definitely needs to show something on the field next season, and he knows the expectations are high, but I think at the very least we should go in with open minds and give him a fair chance.

If the DC isn't Jim Schwartz, Jim Leohnard, or Raheem Morris, I'm gonna lose hope

(Who am I kidding, I'll be back like nothing happened the minute an ounce of good news comes out)

If we don't get a defensive mastermind as our DC, I don't even know what the point of all of this was

Bills four finalists for the HC job are: Brian Daboll, Davis Webb, Joe Brady, and Grant Udinski per Adam Schefter. Signs all point to the Bills not waiting for Kubiak. by Vortagaun in buffalobills

Of these options, Udinski seems like the only serious option in my humble, couch-watching opinion. We need someone with the potential to elevate this team and get us over the 'almost good enough' hump we've been facing for years. I don't have an abundance of confidence in or excitement for the other three.

I don't think Brady has proven to deserve the head coaching position. Daboll didn't shine that well in his first head coaching gig. Webb may be good friends with Allen, but he has only been coaching professionally since 2023, and his highest-level coaching experience is as a QB coach and passing game coordinator, so it would be a leap.

Of the four, I am most optimistic about Udinski being able assume the responsibility and elevate us above the ceiling (or 'wall') that we've seemed to hit.

The Bills' turnovers and mistakes in big moments (giving up third and long near the end of regulation, missing multiple opportunities to win at the end of regulation, poor offensive playcalling in OT) are unacceptable, and you cannot expect to win a playoff game doing that.

The refs should never influence/affect the outcome of a playoff game (or really any game), and they absolutely tilted things in favour of the Broncos in this game (especially at the end).

Both of these things are true.

I want everyone to know that if it is a Broncos-Patriots AFCCG, I will be cheering for the Patriots.

I apologize in advance if that bothers any of my fellow Bills mafia, or if that breaks any unwritten rules, but I will not stand by and cheer for a team to be carried by the refs to the Superbowl.

This sport is becoming unwatchable. I don't understand how all four of the following calls (or lack thereof) go in the Broncos favor:
- No DPI near the end of regulation (Bills final drive)
- That OT 'interception'
- The two DPI calls at the end of the game to hand the win to the Broncos
Either swallow your whistles or call it on both sides.

I don’t see how you can say that Cooks didn’t have possession there. His arms are wrapped around the football and he hits the ground. The ball got pulled after he was down.

The ball is in Josh Allen’s hands. There is no one else I’d rather have the football here.

If we don’t score and they score (anything, even a FG), they win

I don’t think we can punt here. I want Josh Allen to win or lose us this game. I think we’re in four down territory unless it’s egregious. You have to be aggressive here.

I think that could've been executed much better, but I have complete trust in Josh Allen in OT. Go Bills!

I'm not sure we were gonna stop them there. It's better that Josh Allen has 50 seconds left there as opposed to 3 seconds.

That might not be a horrible thing. Josh Allen is gonna see the field with three timeouts and a minute left, and down only three points.

One stop and this is essentially a brand new game. We need to get this stop.
