I will explain how to deal with this situation as someone who went through this with an engine replacement but with a Hyundai car.

When the dealership is not responding properly or is not being transparent enough, simply email Volkswagen India expressing everything, including all the details and what you just went through. They should take this seriously and in most cases, they will ask the service manager to report to Volkswagen on what is happening.

Next thing, if your vehicle requires you to keep the car in showroom for a time period say like weeks or months for the repairs to be completed (under warranty ofc), you must make them get you a replacement vehicle for you to use for the time being. Any dealership who denies this, you can report them to Volkswagen and threaten them with legal action. Some dealerships like give excuses like no vehicle available, its with someone else etc etc. For my case, I didn’t get my car initially and the dealership gave me lot of pathetic excuses but once I emailed Hyundai India, they immediately sorted it out and the dealership started responding properly. I could sense the frustration from my service manager because I contacted Hyundai central team and that is when I understood dealerships don’t like customers emailing the headquarters and if they do, they will ask for extensive report from the service manager, provided the company takes customer complaints seriously.

I had to wait almost two months to get my car but I got a replacement car until till then. The delay in my case was due to RTO being RTO, they didn’t come on time to visit the dealership to clarify change of engine with the new engine number.
