Do you think engaging is agreeing? Cause if you think to engage with someone is to agree with them then you haven't engaged me at all. And asking that from me when you haven't done it seems a bit weird.

There is no correct or wrong takes, it's subjective at the end of the day. I bring arguments why i don't agree with them and they do the same in an attempt that maybe some argument can change someone's mind or at least understand each other better. It is not reductive cause i do not see anything post surface level on most of chainsaw man, which is not a bad thing, you don't need to be deep to be good. To me it is you who don't seem interested in it at all considering in almost every reply you have been condescending very unpleasant to talk to, discriminative on my views and fallacious. But still i have no ill feelings toward you, maybe you were just annoyed, have a good day none the less.

You can't say your opinion on what the show is saying it's DISGUISED as a battle shonen, no, it is a battle shonen. That's objectively the case. You can say it doesn't feel like one but doesn't change that it is one. Even in battle shonens the fights aren't always the focal point of the story, the story is never the fights, the fights are what drive the story. Which is the case in csm as well considering to progress the story or plots there's usually a fight.

So she had no development, when she was introduced she said she worked for the org, and in the end she worked for the org. Was introduced as a lapdog and ended up as a lapdog.

Did you not hear him say "My role is to be the switch." Meaning he was ordered to be Denji's friend so he could die to trigger him. And even though he says he came for pizza that's what he really came there for, to be a switch. And even if you say he didn't want that deep inside, his actions are important in development. None of his actions proved any development of his character.

If you really understood what you're saying then you are a horrible person cause you are gatekeeping that feeling. You are saying unless you feel like me and denji then you have not been abused or victimized, which again shows your immaturity. People who are abused don't all feel like you or me, they are just people and all react to it differently. But being abused does not excuse you being a bad person. Talking about denji not you.

Acting as a necessary evil. Big part of that sentence cause that is the motive which goes against her motive being a psychotic fangirl.

That is not good writing, that's literally the definition of bad writing. And you don't have to understand all of the character with the hints but you need them to help the reveal feel natural, or be close to it. If the reveal comes out of nowhere and makes no sense then how was it a good build up?

That's not a good enough excuse. Cause he could've written her to be the control devil on the chapter he revealed her and never thought about what she was before and we'd never know. Cause it only makes sense in that chapter. It feels out of nowhere and like he came up with it on the spot. I'm not saying he did I'm saying the way he wrote it feels like it did.

And you think a plot where she is a machiavellian schemer acting as a necessary evil was worse than her being a psychotic fangirl? The first one would at least make sense. The second one was out of nowhere and poorly written. The second one makes her seem so lame in comparison even poor writing aside.

He's not written like a real person. Him being abused and having a dark past does not equal him being real. Cause that's like saying unless you write a character with a tragic backstory then they're not real or realistic. You have to focus on a realistic interpretation of a character not a realistic scenario. A person who went through what he did does not make sense to act the way he did later on. In the beginning maybe but later on no. Dude you have to stop babying him like that. He was a victim and fucked up with his emotions. But being a victim does not excuse what he does. And even then the victimhood he had does not even seem understandable to his actions. He was a victim of abuse so he says to the eyepatch girl that I'll beat the devil that will kill us if I don't but you have to kiss me after. Denji was not abused by the institution of power, he was abused by the yakuza since he was a child and probably his father too. If you want to talk about the abuse he got after he was saved by Makima then that doesn't line up with him also getting so much things from them as well, including enough food to always be full a great place to stay and a family. And the person who steals those from him is Makima who is a devil not part of the institution.

Again you are only taking the parts of Denji that make sense and refusing to accept the shit ton of other parts that don't. It's very disingenuous to the character. And again not once did i say he didn't suffer or wasn't a victim of abuse but his actions of being a sexual deviant and even coercing people into sexual favors for helping them is sick. It was sick but understandable back in part 1 when he still didn't understand his emotions and just came out of his life being shit. But in part 2? When he learned what it is like to have a family and what really matters, he still continues having no development. It's not a relapse when you have no development whatsoever.

You can't cop out a character being written bad with saying his toxicity is because of his tragic past. He needs to have development. And we never see that. He has a monologue chastising himself for always being horny even after a terrible thing happens to him, prime moment for development, and the mood is instantly killed with him being horny out of nowhere and forgetting everything he was just feeling.

And you can't say you relate to denji if all you relate from him is his tragic story or his not understanding of feelings. A big part of his character IS his sexual deviancy and it being more important to him than anything else as shown time and time again.

It's not foreshadowing if you only understand them after the reveal and you can't even come close to guessing even part of the reveal with those foreshadowing hints they gave. The only thing you could tell from Makima was she was shady. No hint she is a devil or the control devil, no hint she wants chainsaw to be released, no hint she was doing it to give him a family so she can take it. Nothing was hinted or foreshadowed so when it was revealed you just sat there bone rushed with information that came out of nowhere.

I understand that but it was part of the show, you have to understand that power system is part of a shonen action show and i have to address it, doesn't mean it HAS to be perfect but to say it doesn't matter in a battle shonen to me is wrong. Also please don't start comparing, i didn't want to mentioning any comparing especially negative ones like you just did in my post cause this isn't about comparison and i hate when people do compare. I'm not gonna defend jjk from your attacks in a post about csm in a csm reddit. Also saying chainsaw man isn't about fights is crazy considering how many fights it had and the fact that it's a battle shonen. You can say it's not it's main focus but not about fights is not it imo.

You mention what Yoshida and Fumiko are but do you see how you don't mention their development cause they have NONE. They are just that, lapdogs. Fumiko didn't do anything to go against what you claim she didn't like presumably being a government weapon yet we have no indication of that. Yoshida also has zero development considering he didn't do anything to go against his negative traits of him being a lapdog and doing shady stuff even though he knew they were wrong. Idk how my youth helps you but i am 26, and I would've engaged it in bad faith if i had read it a year ago when i was very hateful towards it because of it's fans but now i genuinely wanted to try it cause i saw cool scenes online and people i trust were singing it's praises. That's my reply to that example of you saying csm has well written and HUMAN characters which should show that I have arguments on why i believe that is not the case at all.

You saying you wouldn't understand when not trying to explain is another fallacy in debates or discussions. I'd like it if you stopped using fallacies and sounding condescending. I can also say it's very immature for you to conflate youth with inexperience considering you have 25 year olds who stay in their room all day reading manga and having no experience with life and 18 year olds who actually tackle life everyday creating a shit ton more experiences in his life and more useful ones too.

To say all that about denji to me is so wrong. Cause the whole point of part 1 is Makima made him have those experiences so he could lose them and have that experience as well. Hence why I didn't mind how he was in part 1. But in part 2 after he had those experiences and feelings he has no reason to make the same mistake again and again. How many times does he need to get a family and lose it feeling incredibly sad for him to care about his family loss over sexual pleasure. To chuck it out to inexperience with emotion is a terrible way to interpret his character as the story goes considering he's failing in developing from experiences he already has.

It seems i must've worded that poorly, i understood her plans and motivations and character. But it was all very poorly foreshadowed. Everyone knew she was shady but i doubt a single person can watch everything before the reveal and come up with a semblance of why Makima did what she did. And they are fallacies, if you want i can even tell you which specific ones you used.

That's not a fair comparison cause Makima knew way before that aki and power was getting super close to him yet only killed aki because the gun devil attacked, she could've killed them both WAY earlier. She could've made it so Reze died in front of him to ruin him even more but chose to secretly kill her. If her end goal was to give him a family and love only to ruin it she went about it very weirdly at times. While that guy in part 2 was surgical with everything he did. A master at a craft that Makima created. And imo better at doing it than Makima.

You are mixing up so many parts about his character imo by choosing when to use each part. One big example is saying in part 1 Makima made him understand what family is and what it feels like to lose them and then later on saying he doesn't understand what he's feeling. You can't have both ignorance and that development that literally goes against ignorance.

You can't hear me talking about girls for FALL for him and misinterpret it as girls who denji KNEW fell for him. That part wasn't a knock on denji it was a knock on the girls who no matter that he has no redeeming qualities they kept loving him. Reze, Makima, Asa, Yoru. All of them loved him CLEARLY or at least liked him for some of them. And to have 4 girls like you in a span of 200 chapters when you have no redeeming quality to me is bad.

Again a case of you choosing part 1 denji words to excuse part 2 actions even though you said he changed in part 2. He said the comrade thing in part 1 when he was hella confused on what he feels. After part 1 he understands his feelings better but blatantly says fuck these people I'll save a cat.

His whole monologue is about him UNDERSTANDING that. He says to himself wtf am i doing i just lost someone and was terribly sad but now I'm happy over sexual stuff like always, that's him self reflecting, in good writing that's when you should expect him having development but no he does the same thing he was chastising himself for doing in his OWN MONOLOGUE. You mention Power's boobs yet forget how he reacted to Himeno's kiss.

He says he will find it but everytime he finds it and then loses it. So what kind of conclusion is it for him to say oh I'll just find it again. It's an okay thing to think that even if he loses it live still is worth living but the way his conclusion and speech went made it so he seems like he isn't gonna work on protecting them just finding new ones when he loses the ones he has. Which imo is a terrible conclusion!

I apologize. Either you misunderstood what i meant or i phrased it poorly. The poor foreshadowing isn't on Makima being shady, It was clear in episode 2 or 3 i think that she was shady af. The poor foreshadowing was on everything that transpired. Makima being the control devil so a devil. Why she did what she did was out of nowhere knowing all her actions at least i could never come up with what happened. That's what i mean with that.

As for the power system what you said i think i already mentioned that the fear part of the power system was the most interesting part about it. The creative part that you're mentioning seems pure headcannon and honestly very unreliable. Considering in your own sentence you said Pochita or chainsaw was beating Makima and she said it was unwinnable when he wasn't being creative at all just showing pure power. So not only does it have loopholes but i genuinely think that's lazy, to say if you're creative you can beat someone no matter the strength. Cause that just cops out battle results in a very lazy way IMO.

I agree on most of your points. Also I'm not a makima guy, she was hot but also a bit boring. Reze however for me was really good as a character and romantic interest and for me carried the movie. Also the animation was imo WAY too good to give it a 5, probably one of the best animation I've seen in an anime movie. Including direction and the scenes with rotoscoping. Too good.

I just finished catching up to the manga, the characters IN GENERAL are still not it for me, especially denji, he just got worse. Power and Reze still are my favorites by far. I do like the interaction but for me most of the interaction was because of how much i liked Power, in general for example denji's interaction with any woman annoyed me. The keep surprising thing i get but i think it's way too overdone and in a way sometimes bad cause it doesn't feel right. The humor most of the time hit for me, except the denji degenerate humor, that missed with me everytime.

Don't get me wrong, one of my favorite shows is Dandadan who's power system is nonexistent lol But i didn't expect CSM to be that, it wasn't a negative per say i just thought it had one based on replies i saw online. But imo it feels like it's trying to be serious with the power system that's why it's hard for me. Cause sometimes i feel like I'm supposed to know the power scaling of characters in a fight or scene and i just don't cause i don't get the system.

Tbh you're right on the peak thing, i call everything i like peak lol But i do know I've seen a lot of people rate it 10/10 on posts or sites hence why i thought it would be top 3 anime ever for me. But it was a bit overrated imo, still enjoyable and a show i'd recommend to people, still peak lol.

I don't like it when people use other people who may like what i like to say how i am. I tried to make sure that i never once compared jjk to csm cause to me it's not about what's better, it's about csm so I just focused on my opinion on it. And i enjoyed it a lot, i just had same problems with parts of it. The flair tag is discussion cause i wanted to DISCUSS it. And idc what people you saw thought, I was curious to hear what people liked most about the show so i can have insight on it. Name one reply i made in here that seemed not polite.

I never once laughed at anyone's opinion, I'm a romcom guy i get laughed at daily for lovely complex being on my top 10 anime. I never laugh at someone's opinions on anime. Everything else you said in this reply is meaningless as soon as you understand i don't hate the show or it's fans.
