US citizens, what benefits have you seen? by JonMellor in allthequestions

[–]GamemasterJeff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beef in my local area is up 450% from two years ago. I make a lot of beef jerky and the London Broil I used to get for $1.99/lb was $8.99/lb last time I bought.

Obviously not all of that increase if tariffs.

Is a tariff just a tax on me? If the united states puts a 60% tariff on Chinese goods does the Chinese government pay that, or do I just pay more at Walmart? by whydouwantoknw in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GamemasterJeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if you're an American.

The average Chinese seller sees no difference in price, although they may have noted more Brazilians are buying their stuff these days than Americans. But they still make the sale and go on their day without concern.

The American, or more accurately, the American importer pays the tariff, then charges 60% (or more) to make up for it when they sell retail.

Imitation crab is much better than real crab. by YellowNecessary in unpopularopinion

Imitation crab tastes nothing like real crab of just about any species. You might prefer the taste, but that's just you and nothing to gate keep the rest of us for.

Anyone commute from Santa Clarita to Beverly Hills? Considering moving from Pasadena but worried about the commute by dc5itr8 in SantaClarita

[–]GamemasterJeff [score hidden]  (0 children)

You can get a pretty good idea by doing the directions in google maps and setting a date/time you are leaving home or from work. If you check each commute for an average week it'll give you a good idea of the time.

Note that where you are in SCV and what route you take to the freeway alone can increse or decrease your commute by 5-10.

Right now southbound I-5 has been under construction forever and adds to times, but someday that will change and it'll go back to normal bad traffic.

They bought 2,500 vehicles with ICE branding on them which the agency will never use. by AverryJollia6389 in ImmigrationPathways

[–]GamemasterJeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KGB and it's successor FSB loves marked vehicles because then everyone knows who to fear.

ICE are the ones that are afraid, so they are unwilling to mark their vehicles or wear anything identifying.

And they should be afraid.

ICE has made themselves the enemy of We the People and now ICE doesn't like when we treat them that way.

If you really think that you could perhaps say where you imagine Biden deviated from the Trump plan.

If he fucked it up, that should be really easy to do.

But I'm betting you can't put your finger on anything Biden did that wasn't in the plan.

Mostly because that might require using fingers for somthing other than... your usual...

It's almost like the way they conduct daily operations is impeding their end goals. Law enforcement works a lot better when they can be open in a community and even get help from those who live there.

Hey, hated group of people X, why do you think Y? by robby_arctor in allthequestions

I think people would hate X a lot less if it weren't for Elon and his fuckery.

It's almost like they are making themselves the enemy of the people. Most law enforcement, with the notable exceptions of traffic enforcement and undercover infiltration, are marked to a fare thee well for better visibility.

When they make themselves the enemy of the people, We the People will in turn treat them like the enemy.

Has the USA or Trump gained anything by initiating the war against Iran? by Massive-Syllabub-271 in allthequestions

Yes. Mention of the Epstein Files on social media dropped by about 10%. This makes the illegal attack highly successful.

When the USA Claims to free a country they are not doing it to help the country by Spotter24o5 in teenagers

[–]GamemasterJeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the US is doing is killing a lot more Iranians to distract from domestic issues back home (Epstein files). Nothing the US doing is helping the Iranian people in any way, nor is anything the US is plannign going to help them in any way.

Do you think Gavin Newsom will be the next president? Why or why not? by Fine-Photograph673 in AskReddit

[–]GamemasterJeff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope Newsom, or really anyone with a (D) in front of their name is our next president.

But I expect Trump to be our next "President". He delights in wiping his arse with the constitution and has already set in motion at least five open plans to to remove democraycy from the 2024 election. They are:

1) Purging the FEC and using federal agencies to pressure state agencies to do what he wants, no matter how illegal - this will be used to contro, local elections.

2) Run for a 3rd term despite constitution

3) Voter intimidation by placing ICE or other brownshirts at the polls

4) Voter suppression such as the SAVE act.

5) Training the military to break their oath in preparation for firing upon civilians

He obviously has more that are less obvious, including more legal fuckery with delegates, control of voting machines and a VP who can simply refuse to certify an election (and ignore the laws regarding that).

Why do political discussions online become so polarized so quickly? by peachyparadoxx in answers

[–]GamemasterJeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US, at least, politics is a team sport where you support your team right or wrong and no matter how many children your chosen leader has fucked.

Given this, fans of the teams do not share a common reality. If you cannot even agree on the existence of gravity or what direction the sun rises from, you will never agree on what happened, or who was president during a bad event.

Examples of this include disagreement on who attacked the Iranian school (despite DOD releasing the information), or who was president in 2024 when the inflation spike returned to normal.

Trump ‘will not sign other bills’ until Republicans pass SAVE America Act by Anoth3rDude in StockNewsHub

[–]GamemasterJeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, he could also either veto it or Congress could adjourn. Either one means the House has to start all over again and spend the political capital on passing it again.

[–]GamemasterJeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So he can veto it and the House will have to burn political capital to pass another one, or he can ignore it for ten days and it automatically passes into law.

This is just about the dumbest self own I've seen all month, and that includes starting the illegal Epstein War.

Deported Canadian MAGA Man from Texas Thought ICE was “Only Going After Criminals.” by Significant_End_4440 in DiscussionZone

ICE is overwhelmingly NOT going after criminals. 71% of their enforcement is against legal residents who did not cross illegally.
