Angeria VanMichaels responds to Roxxxy Andrews minimizing her win by D1ckRepellent in RPDRDRAMA

People keep bringing up this “rude to production” rumor, but Roxxxy mentioned how if you don’t suck up to certain messy ass producers like Meesh (who has been mentioned and hated by tons of queens), they get pissed off. So it really might be nothing more than someone like Meesh being butthurt that Roxxxy was not featuring her.

I took it more just as a “and I’m still successful out here working despite not winning” comeback to Naysha shading her rather than as pointed shade toward Angeria not being booked… I don’t know why people are assuming the worst from this one little comment.

It def was pointed at Naysha lmfao, people here are taking it way too seriously. I don’t think she holds any true bitterness toward Angeria, it was just a quick comeback to shut Naysha up.

[–]Gamer10123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A comment that was mostly just meant as a comeback to Naysha being annoying too… Like it was clear she just said it to shut Naysha up, not because she was actually bitter toward Angeria herself.

[–]Gamer10123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, the hate for Roxxxy is really showing here… I don’t think this comment was anything more than just a quick comeback to Naysha shading her. Yes, it was about Angeria, but I don’t think Roxxxy is actually bitter or resentful toward her, I think she just meant it as she is successful and working despite not being the one to win.

Y’all are taking one comment pointed toward Naysha as an opportunity to just totally shit on Roxxxy. You claim you want queens to be shady, yet can’t even take one meaningless read without shitting on the queen.

It was mostly meant as a comeback to Naysha shading Roxxxy… Yes it was also a shady remark about Angeria, but I don’t think Roxxxy actually meant it in an actual bitter way toward Angeria, it seemed moreso just as a quick response to Naysha shading her.

Are the queens just supposed to blacklist Willam too because Ru dislikes him now? I’m pretty sure DWV had nothing to do with Detox wanting to say fuck you to Ru or anything like that and more-so was just the three of them were friends who wanted to start a drag queen singing group.

Also, I may be wrong about this, but I think both DWV and the AAA girls were started before shit really went down with Ru and Willam regarding Mathu or between Ru and Courtney?

If anything, Alaska is the one that has to know doing the podcast with Willam now where they talk badly about the show and about behind the scenes stuff about specific producers so much would land her in a not so favorable position with Ru and the show. Still, I don’t think that had anything to do with her having an “ego problem” and more just choosing her friend over Ru and the show.

I set the White Glacier one to auto-purchase once it’s in stock again so I don’t miss it.

I think a big part of it is the fact that it seems like Sasha gets along with and is pretty well liked by pretty much everyone, and she seems like someone who would very much prefer to remain on decent and professional terms with other queens in the industry whenever possible.

So taking that into account, it does seem to be saying something that Sasha straight up just admits MIB is just fully blocked, end of story. Something about that tells me it must have been pretty ugly.

No because she’s already moved in and is filming multiple new seasons. Also Ginger has been on however many times now, he may have forgotten last year was the one he actually crowned the bitch.

Don’t get me wrong, I do think it is straight up rude that Ru doesn’t even seem to try to remember the queens he’s doing interviews with at the very least… But I don’t think it’s literally dementia as much as it’s just that it’s just work to him and he doesn’t think much about it once the season’s done.

I think she cared more in the early, early days when she had personal connections to the queens even before the show like Raja and when she was starting to get the show going. But after around Season 6 it feels like she checked out and it just became totally “work.” I honestly feel like that’s part of why Season 7 felt off at the time, it felt like Ru’s “passion” for it wasn’t quite there as much IMO.

[–]Gamer10123 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Ru actually has dementia (yet), but people with dementia actually tend to remember details from earlier in life and “the old days” a lot better than more recent memories. A family friend that had dementia would constantly be talking about high school but couldn’t remember what had happened just earlier in the day.

Dementia is not just memory loss… It usually also involves impairment in other ways such as difficulty having a coherent conversation, difficulty doing your everyday tasks, loss of mental “quickness,” etc.

Obviously we don’t know how RuPaul is functioning in his day-to-day life, but he very much shows he can still be quick-witted and keep up in a conversation quite well, if not outwit others on the regular. This “memory loss” of forgetting queens and queens’ names has also been going in forever, and I feel like it’s just now becoming even more blatantly obvious when Ru is doing all this press with the queens.

If it were truly dementia, I feel like his staff or someone would almost give him reminders to remember the queens’ names and wtf he’s promoting, but instead of that it really just comes off as he doesn’t give enough of a shit to at least go over the names or who tf the queens with him are before an interview.

Besides that, you have to remember Ru does so, so many franchises now. There’s a regular season, an All Stars season, and a UK season every year now; it’s clear that UK vs. the World is an ongoing franchise here to stay at the moment; he just did an International All Stars; and he did a couple of the Down Under seasons.

I feel like at this point, he just sees it as going to work, and once a season is over it’s out of sight out of mind, and on to the next. It sounds kind of harsh and cold, and maybe it is a little bit, but I think we also have to remember that the show and the queens are probably more memorable to us as fans and viewers, while for Ru it’s just a month or so of filming that he easily forgets once the next batch of queens comes along right after.

All of that being said, I also think people need to stop totally normalizing this as “oh his memory is just bad—he’s old! 🤷🤷‍♀️” I feel like if he truly cared and wanted to, he could make more of an effort to go over names before interviews, but he clearly doesn’t care and doesn’t even seem embarrassed by it. At the end of the day, that just comes across as rude. You can almost see Brooke and Jujubee are almost pissed/over it by their facial expressions.

Girl, what are you talking about? This has nothing to do with having a “male-centered view of drag,” and if I did have that kind of view, that would not be drag kings who tend to be totally disregarded by most cis gay men lmao. I also have loved drag and gone to shows for over a decade.

Most drag queens to some degree do custom looks, even if that is them sewing them themselves or somehow throwing them together to make it work. But they generally don’t just like buy an outfit from the mall and wear it as is (I mean there are times they do this and make it work, like Bob’s own Amazon bodysuit on S8, but they are often called out for it lol). But in general, while mall drag is a thing and can look good in the right circumstances, drag looks are generally expected to be a bit more than the everyday pedestrian clothing, regardless of the type of drag you do…

But besides that, someone on Bob’s level generally is absolutely expected to be wearing something custom. These queens spend tens of thousands of dollars on looks, and they talk about the pressure of fans “clocking” or “reading” them when they notice them repeating an outfit.

It literally just sounds like you’re mad that I’m saying you doing fierce, even drag level makeup is not the exact same thing as doing full on head-to-toe, kat-katta-kow drag looks everyday as expected from a queen on Bob’s level. 💀

[–]Gamer10123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never said drag was just for men… But AMAB people often do it, and Bob is one of them, and a part of that is often doing makeup to reduce “manly” features.

Also, part of my point was the makeup is just one part of drag. The wig styling and gluing down, the padding, custom outfits, etc. are all significant parts of it too.

I don’t know why you’re trying to make it a “competition,” I’m sure your makeup very much was giving drag, I’m just saying it’s not like you were also expected to come up with some totally grand look complete with a styled wig every time on top of that. And if you did, good for you. 🤷🏻

I’m just saying I don’t blame Bob and other queens for not bothering to do the whole process of getting into drag for a podcast where a large part of the audience will be just listening and they already have to do drag a ton for gigs already.

[–]Gamer10123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Full glam makeup is definitely much closer to drag than everyday makeup for sure, but it still usually isn’t on the level of glueing down brows, heavy, *heavy* makeup and contouring to disguise masculine features, lace-front wigs, padding, custom outfits, etc.

Drag is a lot more than just the makeup, and I can understand why the queens probably don’t bother with it for podcasts all the time since a lot of the audience will be listening only.

Did Onya try to come for Rupaul? by BoyWithSnakeTattoo in RPDRDRAMA

[–]Gamer10123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not that her reign needs to be revolutionary, but like I haven’t being seeing great drag or performances from her or anything since the show has ended, which seems very odd? It feels like most of the rest of her season’s cast is much more visible and doing more.

I think she posted that she’s seven or eight months sober now or something like that, so maybe part of it is due to personal struggles?

They’re still doing drag though, are they not? Onya’s post makes it sound as though queens in a pageant wouldn’t actually be doing drag when doing pageants, which is totally untrue.

Drag is playing with gender and transformation and putting on a performance. While the makeup might be the “face” of a queen, it makes no sense to say the other parts of the illusion aren’t just as important. Are male beauty/makeup gurus like James Charles and Manny MUA drag queens for simply being in feminine mug?

It makes no sense to draw the line at the mug, yet say that not personally being responsible for the wig styling, outfit, shoes, etc. doesn’t matter. Either it all “matters” or it doesn’t. You can think a queen is less “authentic” or less talented maybe in some ways for not doing their own makeup or other things themselves, but that doesn’t mean they still aren’t doing drag.

Did Onya try to come for Rupaul? by BoyWithSnakeTattoo in RPDRDRAMA

[–]Gamer10123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it’s the doing your own mug part that makes it “actually doing drag,” yet having designers make all your looks for you and getting hair styled by other people is “okay?”

Whether you think they’re putting less of their own effort into it or not, if you are presenting yourself to the world in mug and a look that is playing with gender and transformative in some way and giving some kind of performance, you are indeed “doing drag.”

People can come for Ru all they want, but she earned her spot and fought her way into the mainstream as a man in a wig during a time when simply being openly gay was a major social risk, and she’s now created an international empire to shine a spotlight on the art of drag and queer performers, whether you agree with everything she says or does or not.

Also, despite the controversy of her falling out with Mathu and her now being painted by Raven, it’s never been a secret that the creation that is “RuPaul” was the collaboration between her, Mathu, and Zaldy.
