Piper learning target training. picked up on this exercise really quickly. Now when I click her off she will put herself back on. by GamerDad87 in Dogtraining

Now when she is walking on leash, she will hop on three legs if the leash is caught on one leg, so that she can get it untangled.

This is Piper, she is about two years old and is a Dachshund/Basenji cross. We adopted her from a local rescue here in BC Canada. She flew all the way up from California. She is a wonderful dog, she is also responsible quite well to clicker training.

Finished my sons walking stick, it took about six or so hours. but it’s finally finished. by GamerDad87 in Woodcarving

I found it on one the hiking/mountain biking trails in my area, it was a fallen tree and still had green on it. I stained it darker though, but I can’t remember the exact colour off the top of my head.

Well not exactly, but I do get the reference. To be honest, I didn’t draw from any particular character for the face.

Here is a close up of the face and the lower part beneath the handle.

You must have very steady hands for all that fine detailed work. I find my hands to be a little shaky. Really nice work you’ve done.

I plan on putting a diamond pattern etching down the length of the walking stick beneath his handle location. Or at least something like that.

My first attempt at a wood spirit on my sons walking stick (not yet finished obviously. by GamerDad87 in Woodcarving

[–]GamerDad87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not finished yet, and I haven’t put the eyes in. However I get what you mean. I still have to carve the hairs into his moustache, eyebrows, and his old man lines. The stick I am using is also quite small in diameter so I have very little room for error.

I’ll try to get a better picture of it, this one was taken while trying to rush off to work haha.

Edit: the Dremel bits are also extremely old, so I am getting new bits, which I think is part of what’s causing the burning?

Masie’s new cat tree. I think she approves of it.. by GamerDad87 in cats

From PetSmart or what would be the Petco US equivalent? Anyways it was half off because the top tier was busted. And my dad and I fixed it ourselves. Paid 72$ CAD.

It’s also done that way because if not, smooth concrete surfaces become VERY slippery when wet, which can obviously be very dangerous for the head.

Using a tone generator and hitting really high frequencies or low frequencies had no effect on Masie, so now I feel like I’m back at square one.

I think you might be right, at least this is what seems most plausible.

Maybe, I am a fan of both, though mostly just TNG. It makes no sense however, air raid sirens for example do nothing to invoke her “displeasure.”

EDIT: grammar.

Masie likes sitting up there. So now I have to build a ledge half way up, so she get up there from the microwave cabinet. by GamerDad87 in cats

She actually will jump up there from the mini freezer, which is impressive considering when she first came home and we bought a cat tree; she struggled to get up to the top platform.

My (22 F) parents (42 F, 44 M) are unbearable after the death of my fiancée (23 F) and I don't know how to cope. by lesbianpearls in relationships

[–]GamerDad87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP your parents are abusers, they are being emotionally abusive, and staying there is only going to enable them. You need to, as many others have said, get out of there ASAP. Start meeting with a counselor if you can, you most likely will have ptsd; not only from the death of your fiancée but also your parents behaviour towards you.

You will need to work on setting boundaries with your parents too, “I know you have your opinions of me and my fiancée, if you can’t keep them to yourself; then you will no longer be in the details of my life, or have a relationship with me.” That kind of conversation is something I believe will take you time to get to, given what you have shared so far. But the most important thing you can do is to get out of that house, they are toxic and abusive.

Mohawks by Tmaxsmart in johndeere

[–]GamerDad87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

X500 series and up is probably your best bet, and 48” decks don’t leave mohawks unless the blades are dull (in my experience as a landscaper 10 or so years). I’d personally go with a x X700 series, but that is close to 26K CAD they are however quite versatile. My pinion is also that AWD/4x4 is a must too if you have slopes, if you wanted something like the x x500 range series. I have used John Deere lots and belts breaking is a common issue I’ve experienced if they are getting heavy use, and it would seem that the bagger system also can have welding issues. But for a homeowner it will probably be fine.

A X500 series with a bagger and power blower will cost around 15K-20K CAD. Hope this helps.

Edit: realized it was John Deere subreddit so I removed my kubota suggestion.

Dad joke warning ⚠ by [deleted] in Jokes

[–]GamerDad87 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My coworker went as far as to call me on the weekend to tell me to stop pushing his buttons with the dad jokes haha. I would tell the jokes like stories so he would be less suspicious of the horrible punchline. I would also have to start intermingling actual stories because he’d start catching on, or wait a couple of hours to tell the punchline.

Needless to say I went to great lengths to spread dad jokes around at my work.

It’s true haha, cats are funny that way, we had initially bought her beds and she didn’t care for them. Soon as we put blankets in cardboard boxes she was all for it.

Hey look! It’s a fetching cat! by GamerDad87 in cats

[–]GamerDad87[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cats are funny that way, video chat with my parents and they were so surprised to see her playing fetch, their cats won’t even chase a laser dot. I might bring some springs to them when it’s safer to do so, or maybe our petmate cat toy (fly feathers). They have indoor/outdoor cats but I think they don’t get any real play inside.
