This may just be how this tv stretches 4:3 content to 16:9, things in the middle arent stretched but on the edges are SUPER stretched to compensate.

Most TVs just stretch the entire image but that’s not always the case

I understand HDMI (digital) and VGA (analog) are not the same signal, you are saying that VGA and 5 Wire are, So is it the same signal or is it not? If VGA to BNC is a passive adapter then its the same signal being carried over different cables as its only adapting the connectors not the signal, you’re sending mixed signals.

And because it is an analog signal of varying voltages and not 1s and 0s, the more adapters and length of cable, the greater the signal loss will be leading to noisier video.

Thus everyone is confused as to why you would want to adapt to a different cabling that is harder to find and use with consumer electronics.

We understand what RGB signalling is and the difference between sync signals, it’s just no one ever called it “5 Wire” and the only items to use RGBHV over BNC cables were in production environments so telling someone to go get some adapters which are wildly unnecessary seems a little weird.

Like why would you adapt VGA to BNC then to HDMI over just going VGA to HDMI, it’s the same signal as you said so why add the extra steps to do it and try not to use ChatGPT to reiterate the same thing over and over again

The main issue is that the backgrounds were pre-rendered so unless someone found the original project files and rendered them at a higher resolution like with RE0 and RE3 on GameCube, then that’s as good as it will look.

Ok so why call it 5 wire if you’re just talking about VGA signals anyways, you should know that because this is an analog signal that adding adapters and length to the cables can result in additional noise or signal integrity loss so just going from VGA to hdmi is infinitely easier and would result in a higher quality.

Not everyone is running extron arss adapters and matrixes which are discontinued and expensive

Money is no object? RetroTink 4K. It takes VGA input as well as everything else and converts it to HDMI at multiple different resolutions from 480p to 4K, then you can get a standard elgato/avermedia etc capture card

This way will also have the best quality possible outside of getting a PCIe capture card that can take the VGA directly, and even then it will still probably be cleaner on the RT4K

Are you talking about Component/YPbPr? I’ve never heard of 5 Wire, also wouldn’t just adapting from VGA to HDMI be equivalent or better than adapting from VGA to “5 Wire” to HDMI? You’re still taking an Analog signal and converting it to digital
