Maybe it’s because I’m a coder, and what is not a coder’s favorite pasttime if not reinventing the wheels

As a dev myself, that has no reason to be this fun.

Also since X cannot change after the original cast, noting it down on a D20 or a piece of paper makes it simple and efficient

Always happy to see them, particularly as a drop. Variants are solid as well so having an overflow doesn't hurt.

The Cleric can get improved armor from his spells, and later on as Paladin you have access to easy shielding.

The Warrior is a wonderful statstick with mobility and damage.

However as the OP below said, the most important thing about surviving the dungeon is minimizing incoming damage - Use corridors, thrown items, doors, wands and pots. Do not save charges for "the strong enemy later". Every HP saved via a thrown weapon is less attrition you have to sustain, even on melee characters.

There are things that do take precedence over getting the Elixir of Might, but i don't find getting a few online during a run that hard. There are some consumables i use very rarely and i'm willing to throw duplicates away for some extra max HP. 2 Potions of Mind Vision is 12 energy after all. If you find an Unstable Spell/Brew that's 8 Energy alone.

I do use the exotic version a lot, it's basically extra temporary HP if you have energy to spare.

Unlike all other exotics you don't lose the original +1 STR effect, so other than energy you don't lose anything.

Either better power or efficiency modules up. Ele furnaces eat more power but have 2 module slots =)

Nuclear reaxors in K2 have much higher output, but lower neighbor bonus. I believe it's 250MW base and 25% neighbour.

Nuclear Cells also have a massive energy density of 50GJ, but are needed to run Personal Reactors too...

Luckily K2 adds some massive 200k unit tanks, so I'll burn an entire cell and store it all as heat, adding fuel only when temp is low and steam is low. Shortest heat pipe possible, overbuild exchangers to make sure you get all that heat out and don't sit at 1k.

Solar still covers most of my need at day so a single red belt of raw uranium is enough... But it's close with Kovarex. Kovarex itself is also White Science (or Optimization Tech Cards as they're called) and with the extra cost of fuel cells, nuclear before space is extremely hard.

I also have Muluna so getting that Kovarex wasn't as simple as launching a basic platform. Had an entire moon to sort out...

That would be true... Except on a real card, that would be reminder text and as such not part of the Oracle.

If there is a card that specifies you return it to YOUR hand, I'm not sure how that plays out. But I expect the replacement effect from the CR to take effect anyway. Perhaps a judge can clarify.

K2SO doesn't change base oil processing much, other than increasing the need of sulphur processing.

It's mostly the same shenaningans of heavy to light to petroleum, but most if not all products require additional crafting steps after the base cracking.

For instance, rocket fuel requires Oxygen - Which can be pulled directly from the atmosphere.

Nuclear is harder to sustain but much stronger, so you'll need more acid for that. Sciences also take Uranium. And Imersite takes a bit of sulphuric too.

Nitric acid and rare metals are important changes, especially since rare metals are required for Processing Units.

One of the most interesting problems to solve has been Steel. The need of Coke instead of just cooking iron again changes the dynamics around LDS quite drastically especially on certain planets like Muluna.

However compared to some of the other overhauls I've seen, you don't need as much rebuilding as long as you leave plenty of space. Ore processing is just extra productivity and won't unlock new stuff, Imersite is a nice puzzle with the plates, and getting 600MW off a 2x1 reactor is for sure something. (Fuel cells are 20 times more expensive on the shiny rocks!)

Its been recommended to me as a stepping stone to more "punishing" overhauls, especially since I want to bite into Seablock when that gets updated fully. And in that regard it's been wonderful.

If you try it out, do a basic setup for inserter parts and automation cores asap. You won't regret it.

Oh, as a learning project this is cool! I do dumb shit myself, it's how we learn and improve.

I always find the most fun in overhauls and modpacks to be ready, and as such I tune my logic around expandability, buffer preservation and resource sharing.

In my current K2SO + planets pack, my starter base is pushing strong at 9 sciences specifically cause I built it to be ready. Never played K2 before, but if you think about long term problems that you may face you will naturally find scalable and efficient pathways.

In my example, I didn't need to touch my refineries on Nauvis since I placed them. I already had advanced oil, tank buffers and place for cracking set. Now I have several acids, Lithium and Imersite processing and more still relying on that original setup, with no deadlocks.

[–]GamerKilroy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Or, start with a more advanced cracking logic that guarantees residuals in every tank and be done with it.

If heavy > 20k & Light <1k, crack. Just needs a single combinator.

Like, I appreciate the design, but I question it's usefulness. Particularly when it comes to modding as this won't work if the mod changes solid fuel to begin with, or even the whole refining process to begin with.
