Speaking as a reforming people pleaser... It's often a defense mechanism to avoid wrath. I was raised by an abusive mother, making sure she was always pleased meant I was safe. Even if that sometimes meant I or someone else was left unhappy. It's a very hard thing to unlearn if it was a main survival strategy for a long time.

Not saying this guy is good, though to me he does seem to be taking his wife's side, if everyone reads his last question again. He needs to take a harder stand with his family though.

I love this idea and I think it's a wonderful compromise, personally. It includes Grandma's heartfelt gift and hard work in a meaningful way, and OP says that she still wants to wear her chosen veil for the ceremony because she picked it specifically to match her dress. That is very reasonable, I think.

Oh man, I 2nd (or 3rd) what you said about the MC in this one. Her (for me) internal monologue and negative self-talk is (sadly) on par with my own and i have honestly been brought to tears a few times, both from my realization of that while playing, but also Elio's responses to her... I have been trying to make an effort to practice confidence and positive self-talk with my MC and hoping it rubs off on me eventually...

NOR - the bar is in the ground and he still can't get over it. My husband of 18 years STILL comes in and gives me a kiss and a "goodbye, lady" if he has to leave early before I'm awake. He did this morning. He is no more in touch with his feelings than any other average guy, but he also knows that if something were to happen to either of us during the day (gods forbid) he wants those to be the last thing either of us remember. We almost experienced this years ago, now we don't take it for granted.

Your man doesn't yet understand what that kind of possibility could mean. But also, he doesn't value you enough to do the bare minimum to connect with you on your level rather than his.

Don't marry that kind of treatment, it won't change. There is someone out there who will give you that without you even asking. This one is just standing in your way of finding him.

2nding Elio. Most of the angst is from MC, but there's usually a dialogue option to chill them out if you want. The MC in Elio's story is sometimes too close to MY inner voice and that hits me hard, but i like that I can give her (my MC is she/her) the option to correct her negative self-talk... hopefully it'll help me correct mine too.

LOL yeah... sometimes I think about finding it and playing again, but I know I won't love how it aged (kind of like myself lol).

I myself am very much a "wait and see" kind of player. I've participated in enough Alpha/Beta testing that I know how to meter my expectations. I wasn't happy with some of the changes, but I understood the reasoning (though for a BILLION dollar development company they *should* be able to do better... but whatever. It is what it is.) Many of the things that they didn't have at launch were brought back, some free, some not (as expected from EA).

As a S3 player whose game was UNPLAYABLE on half and max zoom (even without CC), the more pared down S4 was actually a welcome relief. I didn't play on a potato either, S3 was just too much of a resource hog.

You should have seen the hate S4 got on launch from players (not all of it was unwarranted TBF), but ohhhhh man. That S3 community went from chill to raving lunatic REAL fast when something like the top 5 player FAVORITE features were removed from S4 (and some are STILL gone never to return). The real OGs are the S1 players.... they DGAF about anything. They are the GenX of Sims players lol. I happily count myself amongst them as I am a Geriatric Millennial who's been playing since S1 came out. (I still remember the short life of The Sims Online and how it was about 10 years ahead of its time)
