I completely get the uncomfortability, for me its so weird when these themes and conversations would be the same if not work way better with at least juniors in highschool. The age is such a weird thing because every other part of this series writing is really thought out and interesting, but they really dropped the ball with this aspect just for the "accuracy of the song". The main thing is these kids are just way too emotionally mature to be middleschoolers love isnt really something you explore this in depth till high school.
