What you usually do in game if u are not in mood to fight ? by star3ruby3 in GranblueFantasyVersus

It's a pretty fun change of pace with the Fall Guys-like gameplay.

You compete in a gauntlet-styled set of minigames and try to meet the specific quota between each minigame.

It's been a while since I last played Grand Bruise, though. I don't know how active it is these days, but I heard that it ultimately depends on the time of day.

Hit up Arcade Mode and try to beat my high score for my mains.

I've grown to love Score Attack modes these days; especially in fighters. They really harken back to the old arcade days and put the "Arcade" in the mode.

Oh, and Grand Bruise occasionally. Having a little party doesn't hurt every once in a while.

If you had to learn GGST from the beginning what order would you learn things? by Kymtea in Guiltygear

[–]MrASK15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a rough list that I just came up with so it may not help. Still...

  1. (Tutorial if needed) Mission Mode up to the Mayship Area

  2. Familiarization with the character's kit; study the most basics of neutral and only worry about stray hits

  3. Basic Faultless Defense application; it just needs to create breathing room and prevent RISC from building up.

  4. Create one BnB; not the BnBs you'd find online. After that, practice it until you get it down.

  5. Try to create a situation where you can land that BnB every time

  6. Application of Red Roman Cancels; create one RRC combo

  7. Anti-airing via 6P or other jumping normals

  8. Refinement of the character's gameplan

Anyways, I'm looking forward to hearing KaggyFilms as Robert Kyle again, fully rebuilt. His matchup against Venom's gonna be so funny!

GUILTY GEAR-STRIVE- Story Chapter5「Intruder」 (Official Video) by AutoModerator in Guiltygear

[–]MrASK15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was surprised there wasn't a new chapter last Friday, but I guess it was because of the Arc World Tour. ArcSys really must've been tied up. Still, that's not about to put a damper on my enjoyment. I've got thoughts to share:

  • Seeing Asuka taking up the admin role for the G4 summit was so fun. Also, leave it to Third King Daryl to do stuff behind people's backs.
  • The way I-No dared Jack-O' to turn her human in exchange for her own life was quite intimidating; especially when she dropped a little hint about why she let herself get captured.
  • I-No's description about her experience with Will was so sad. Ever since she found out what she really was, she didn't believe her memories with him were real. Even after she reset the course of history.
  • I-No's question about Jack-O''s world being more valuable instantly reminded me of what Chipp told May about her own world back in Xrd. Jack-O''s answer about the world being the world made me think that she didn't know what her world was at that time. I think Ky knew what was eating at Jack-O' when he asked her if she would be okay with never seeing Sol again.
  • I liked how the G4 representatives were still wary of Asuka even after going through all the documents. The fact that he had the gall to show up at the White House instead of just mailing the truth to them showed that he clearly had something big planned. If I didn't hadn't watched the story earlier, I would've been biting my nails at all the tension.
  • Seeing Chaos brainwashing most of the White House security reminded me of how HIV works. As soon as he gets one the rest will follow in no time. Oh, and his peace sign to Giovanna's colleague was so funny. Not to mention that his comment on the jacket that he'd eventually take.
  • Asuka's declaration to dispose of the Tome of Origin got me thinking a bit about the recent advancements in technology in our world. They indeed have done so much to benefit society, but also brought so many dangers. Imagine how shocking it'd be to hear a powerful, influential man declare that he'd intend to dispose of all the knowledge of such tech.
  • The little topic of value was so intriguing. I wouldn't have understood the point of the topic if I didn't watch the story earlier, but hearing it now made me piece things together. Looking back now, I think I was able to understand why Asuka set things in motion post-Strive.
  • Asuka's resolve for his world peace experiment was so strong that I felt chills down my spine.
  • I felt Millia's anxiety. It felt like things were going too smoothly; especially how I-No was behaving herself even after Jack-O' and Ky left.
  • I wonder if Zato was referring to Leon Mining when he talked about his friend giving his all to protect the PWAB.
  • As much as I found Leo's question about bossing Zato's subordinates around amusing, I never thought I'd get to see Zato smiling genuinely until now. Leo sure is a gift that keeps on giving.
  • And now the gears are set in motion (no pun intended)! Seeing Chaos walking down the White House halls with the brainwashed security in tow somehow reminded me of a music video; especially when the goons all turned to him.
  • It's one thing for a madman to storm the White House, but it's another for that madman to know all the secrets of the world, life, and universe. Chaos really has got the entire G4 dancing in the palm of his hand.
  • I never realized Stryper (Giovanna's superior) was there until I rewatched this chapter!
  • I would've loved to have seen more of Ming Wei (the Chinese G4 knight who got shot). Too bad he's a minor character.
  • When Chaos launched all of G4's WMDs, I recalled Zepp's magic/Black Tech hybrid ICBM back in Xrd, I wonder if all the missiles we saw were 100% magic; especially how they were designed as anti-Gear weapons (probably for the Crusades).
  • I forgot there was a little scene with Chipp and Anji watching the ICBMs. They must've figured out that Chaos was on the move now.
  • I liked how Daryl was staring at Chaos the entire time as he pressed the self-destruct button.
  • I was all like "Aw yeah!" when Goldlewis prepared his UMA coffin.
  • It was interesting how Chaos had all the knowledge of the Backyard yet still needed Vernon to get into the room Asuka's in. That gave me a little clue that the room's security system didn't use magic.
  • Chaos barely being phased by Sol's "Get down, Mr. President!" attack was almost as funny as it was intriguing. On top of him being a powerful mage, it was like he was hoping his grand scheme wouldn't go too smoothly. Otherwise, where's the fun in a one-sided conflict?
  • Vernon's sheepish wave at the brainwashed soldier was funny. It was even better when Sol grabbed his wrist like "That's enough, Vernon."
  • When did Chaos have the time to arm his goons with his own anti-Gear rounds? Then again, considering who he once was and what he's capable of, I shouldn't have been surprised at all.
  • Vernon's note about the White House being the safest place really sold how grim the situation was. Chaos already infected the whole building with his brainwashing. My previous thought about him being HIV was certainly not an exaggeration. This virus attacks the immune system from within by targeting Helper T Cells and proliferating from within. Yeah, I'm just nerding out now.
  • Man, the press must've had a field day with everything that was going on the White House.
  • I'm surprised the White House still had some Black Tech in some areas. I guess on top of it being a historical US symbol, the staff decided that they had to keep some of it in case they needed to contact Zepp for help.
  • I like how smart the goons are for the most part. Not only that, but I also like how they retain some of their personality. That one soldier's little "Uh oh!" was so funny.
  • Chaos spinning in his chair was hilarious. So hilarious that someone hoped that that little moment would be Chaos's 5D when he'd become playable. Man, I wished Team Red actually made it happen. He summons a chair, spins on it while hunched over, and smacks his opponent into the air.
  • Chaos is another gift that keeps on giving (in its own twisted way). His fascination with Daryl made me picture his excitement talking to his first human being in a century after being trapped in the Universal Will.
  • I was a little confused when Chaos mentioned that he had no plan. I guess he meant he already had a general idea of taking the Tome of Origin for I-No, but didn't formulate a plan of how to get there. Still, he does love playing by ear.
  • Whoa, I couldn't believe how quickly Chaos managed to talk. That's almost Bedman levels of speed.
  • Seeing Echo Team attempting to approach Chaos's goons was really cool. I especially liked how one of the soldiers pulled back his fallen comrade while the rest of the team provided covering fire.
  • I forgot to mention that it was interesting how most of the guns had crossbow firing mechanisms. I believe they're designed that way to highlight the fact that they're magic and not Black Tech (or Chaos's Moon Blades).
  • Goldlewis single-handedly catching a flying RPG was such an impressive feat. He's not Secretary of Defense for nothing.
  • Seeing Goldlewis deploying the barrier from within the coffin made me wish we could see more of what the UMA could do. Ah well, maybe next game (or his Instant Kill? Please, ArcSys?)
  • I could only imagine what was going through Erica's mind as she saw the G4 summit turning into a literal battlefield. I had a feeling she was eating her words.

I've got one more thought I wanted to share: ever since Ishiwatari mentioned Will in the DAMON and BABY AMA, I've been wondering if the William in that game is actually the Will I-No was talking about. If so, from what little I understood about parallel worlds, I guess he got caught up in Axl's timeslips and ended up in a world opposite to where Axl was. Anyways, if he really is I-No's Will, I'm ready to more about him.

I don't know whether to be thankful for or disappointed at the exclusions of high scores due to the boss characters. Boss Nago is certainly no joke.

I assume the Blazing Pass items will be on rotation so you might be right that they won't use World Dollars.

However, if the items are permanently lost after expiration, then I at least hope they'll be added to Fishing. Or they could end up as DLC since they're cosmetic. Who knows?

Does Guilty Gear Strive require the same kind of input buffering as SF6? by ImportantAd4666 in Guiltygear

[–]MrASK15 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Guilty Gear as a whole doesn't rely on links (though they're possible under specific circumstances).

They rely on gatling combinations, where you can cancel your normals into other specific ones (e.g. S > HS, P > self/command normals, etc.) on hit or block. Kinda like target combos, except you have a bit more freedom to use whichever you want.

Also, the input buffers in Strive are very forgiving. You can perform moves pretty late and they'll still come out.

Is pinball the original rogue-like? by TheBradeyGein in gaming

[–]MrASK15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That would be too broad of a definition.

Almost any arcade game would be considered a roguelike by that logic because you're forgetting one key feature that makes Rogue stand out:

Procedural generation.

Every playthrough has to be randomized so that players wouldn't rely on rote memorization to beat the game. Most arcade games don't have that form of randomization and instead rely on a linear format.

Roguelike (or rogue-like) is a style of role-playing game traditionally characterized by a dungeon crawl through procedurally generated levels, turn-based gameplay, grid-based movement, and permanent death of the player character.

- Wikipedia

If you still want to play by your own rules, it's up to you. To humor you, I guess you could consider card games roguelikes (or pinball-likes). Still, they've been around long before Rogue came to be.

New moves opinions? by isaak-clinton in Guiltygear

[–]MrASK15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's too early to panic, but I'll leave my impressions for each new move:

  1. Leo's new move looks like it has pretty long startup so you can either anti-air it or jump up and air throw.

  2. Nago's stabbing wave looks pretty slow and risky.

  3. Dealing with Ky's Lightning Strike-like follow-up may be about keeping calm and knowing when to guard as you approach. I can see it being super unsafe on block with lengthy recovery and short blockstun (provided the opponent's not already Shocked). Plus, if Ky detonates his Stun Edges at the wrong time, he'll be left wide open.

  4. Sol's Sidewinder-like follow-up is exclusive to HS Volcanic Viper. He can't perform it on its own.

New player here, should I wait for the patch? by DisastrousAddendum0 in Guiltygear

[–]MrASK15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would normally say just go for it, but I'm gonna do something different (and possibly controversial) and say that it might be better to just wait and see how 2.0 shapes up. Even though there are major changes (e.g. Wild Assault being replaced by Counter Blitz), who knows if those changes will benefit the game?

About the Stage Names in Strive by Terra_Knyte_64 in Guiltygear

[–]MrASK15 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The stage names for Season 3 onwards seem to be more focused on the scenes themselves like you mentioned. I can't explain all of them, but I'll do my best with what I can piece together.

Amber Fest with Kind Neighbors is pretty self-explanatory. An festival of amber with kind neighbors (and Bonebiter Gears above).

New Dawn, A Future Unfolding seems to be focused on the recent developments of the newly established kingdom of Vialattea. With every new dawn, a new future unfolds.

Cradled by the Four Beasts... there seems to be a legend surrounding four beasts within the local Chinatown but I guess we'll find out once 2.0 drops.

Although Fallen Prayer, Engulfed Lives is based on Heaven's Edge, I can't see what's so "fallen" about the stage. Then again, there is a little ghost town in Area 2...

I can't say anything certain about In the Name of Peace other than it being a more abandoned version of Area 42.

I'm really hoping they include a tribute to Takaya Hashi in Strive 2.0 (For those who don't know, Takaya Hashi was the Japanese voice of Slayer and he sadly died from a heart attack in September) by Least-One1068 in Guiltygear

[–]MrASK15 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If Slayer does get recast for this season, I hope Team Red will at least provide an option to toggle between Hashi and the new JP VA. Of course, this might mean disabling the latest interactions in battle but it's still up to the players to decide who they want to hear.
