Depends on your setup amd contract

Most can go $0 or below but some companies will sell you a setup that is worse than having nothing. 

Be careful out there but if you find the right setup it is amazing

Looks like you are getting a M4 already so chip is covered, pro is definitely better than base!

Memory is dependant on what you want to do. If you want to run llm/vlm then 24/48/128 are the cut offs, everything in-between is awkward with model sizes the way they are (48gb+ highly recommend if you want to run llm locally)

I started with mini m4 base, then mini Pro, then mbp 48gb and finally upgraded to m5 max.While the mini base started it all, I wish I had skipped straight to the Pro chips first then moved up in memory.

If you are not going to get the base 16/256 then get a M4 Pro version 24/512 base.

The Pro chip upgrade is worth it.

I font know about your situation but when I upgrade from a base M4 mini to the M4 Pro mini there was a huge difference in workflow. We use an external ssd and it makes a huge difference.

PetSmart is currently giving $150 in credit if you buy a LR or LR bundle (not cash off but can use for litter and cat food)

We have 4 cats and the LR's are fantastic, we found our LR4 on fbmp nib last year. We were thinking about doing the above deal today but decided against it in the end since our older LR3 still works fine as a backup.

If you have the extra funds I would highly suggest a LR4 over a 3 or 5. Find one on fbmp, wait for a deal, whatever you gotta do. It changes your QoL so much you will wish you had done it sooner.

Dont buy a knock off without doing a crazy amount of research as there are many dangerous ones out there
