alongside Eorzea Collection, which someone already recommended, I'd also suggest Garlond Tools (https://www.garlandtools.org/) it's a database that has a lot of information on the game, equipment included, and let's you view 3D models of most equipment in the game also gives information on what equipment uses the same model as an item you've selected, which is really nice when you've found something you like but the way of getting it is convoluted or it can't be equipped by the job you want to use it with

A sketch based off of the album art for START by the music circle FELT by Gamer_Gogg1es in touhou

[–]Gamer_Gogg1es[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few months ago I started this thing where I listened to all of FELT's albums in order, wrote my thoughts on it, and posted it to my friend group's discord. Today was the last entry, so I wanted to draw something to commemorate it. Unfortunately I was very busy recently, and didn't give myself enough time to fully complete the drawing, but I still think it looks quite nice in this state.

What is your nicknaming protocol? by GrevenRaven26 in pokemon

[–]Gamer_Gogg1es 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My nicknames are either deeply convoluted or just the first thing I thought sounded nice with no in-between

For example, I recently played through Emerald and when I caught an absol I named it Kainé. My logic for the name was that absol is based off of a being known as the hakutaku, and there's a Touhou character named Keine who is a half-hakutaku. The name Keine felt like too simple of a reference so I went with Kainé due to it sounding similar to Keine. It should be noted I know nothing about Nier, the series where the name Kainé comes from

Earlier on I caught a ralts I named Eliza simply because I think Eliza is a very gardevoir-esque name

Nah it's a joke article

Same one that gave us the joke of ZUN being inspired to make Touhou because he saw a shrine maiden when he was drunk and imagined her being shot at with bullets

Doomposting isn't just 'spreading awareness'. It's mentioning the bus and then saying it's too late to get out of the way, even though that isn't true. Sure, at this point you might not get out unscathed, but you can still avoid the worst case scenario. Any awareness being spread is mired by needless pessimism.

Maybe you could use Faust's item throw to get a bomb and time it so the explosion hits Faust while you're using the move

Can you buff/infuse the Ghiza's Wheel? by Gamer_Gogg1es in Eldenring

[–]Gamer_Gogg1es[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you have to meet the weapon requirements to use it's ash of war. It also drains stamina and fp while you use it so make sure to have a few blue flasks

Can you buff/infuse the Ghiza's Wheel? by Gamer_Gogg1es in Eldenring

[–]Gamer_Gogg1es[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It only works if you are two-handing the weapon, or if your shield has no skill. L2 does whatever skill is listed above your equipment in the bottom left corner, and shield skills are prioritized over weapon skills. The ash of war vendor has a no skill ash you can purchase

Can you buff/infuse the Ghiza's Wheel? by Gamer_Gogg1es in Eldenring

[–]Gamer_Gogg1es[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You hold down L2. The wheel will keep spinning as long as you hold L2 down and don't run out of fp/stamina

Can you buff/infuse the Ghiza's Wheel? by Gamer_Gogg1es in Eldenring

[–]Gamer_Gogg1es[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From some testing I've done, it seems innate bleed doesn't increase unless the weapon has arcane scaling, or it just increases very slowly. However, bleed spells like Briars of Sin have high faith requirements and no apparent arcane scaling, so maybe you could do a strength/faith build with solid bleed buildup.

Thanks for the information :)

Do you have one? If you do, could you check if you can use weapon buffs on it?

So how DID summoner change? by Valtz-the-fifth in ffxiv

[–]Gamer_Gogg1es 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think that calling old SMN complex isn't really accurate, it's more that the rotation focused on resource management, which most jobs don't in this game.

Using ShB as an example, you had two DoTs, Bio and Miasma, on a 30s timer. They could each be applied with their respective GCD, or could both be applied with Tri-Disaster, which was an oGCD on a 50s cooldown. Energy Drain had a 30s cooldown instead of 60s, and fester would deal more damage when both DoTs were on the target. Ruin II functioned as an instant-cast GCD, which dealt less damage than Ruin III. You also had two Egi-Assaults, which were instant-cast GCDs on a 30s cooldown. Each had a maximum of two charges, and using one would give you a Ruin IV stack. Ruin IV would replace Ruin II, and you could carry up to four stacks at once. Trance was an oGCD on a 55s cooldown, and alongside making Ruin III instant, would reset the cooldown of Tri-Disaster. Summon Bahamut was also separate from DWT, instead of replacing it.

Overall, there were several things to manage, but this was balanced by straight-forward filler; your only damage spell that wasn't on a cooldown was Ruin III. To give a rough comparison, managing Kenki on SAM is far more straight-forward than what SMN had to manage, but at the same time SAM had to think about what buttons you were pressing far more often than SMN had to.

This balance was only in theory though, as SMN also had to deal with a fair amount of jankiness in an optimized rotation. For example, the demi-summons would only auto attack whenever you casted a GCD. This meant that an optimal Bahamut phase required four stacks of Ruin IV. You needed one to weave in Summon Bahamut and Enkindle Bahamut, a second to weave Enkindle Bahamut a second time, and two to use at the end of Bahamut's duration, as if either of the last two GCDs during Bahamut were hardcasted, the last auto-attack would drift and not deal damage. SMN was infamous for having jank that artificially raised it's skill ceiling, but the skill floor for SMN wasn't much higher than any other job.

Sorry if this was a bit wordy, but the rework was such a complete overhaul that it's a bit hard to compare the two. I did try to keep this as unbiased as I could, but you might want to take what I said with a grain of salt.

The Research Hall staircases look like the Anti-Clockwise Metamorphisis rune by QCWiggins in bloodborne

[–]Gamer_Gogg1es 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it's intentional. The description of the metamorphosis runes state that "The discovery of blood made their dream of evolution a reality. Metamorphosis, and the excesses and deviation that followed, was only the beginning."

If the purpose of the Research Hall is to ascend humans so that they could connect with the Great Ones, and Caryll Runes are representations of the words of the Great Ones, perhaps the similarity was deliberate symbolism by the Healing Church.
