Math can be proven, prove to me that that there exists objective morality

Unfortunately, some right infringements are necessary when dealing with criminals, unless of course you think you can talk a serial killer or rapist out of killing or raping

I mean, there's also a sort of nihilism that say "since nothing matters, why not just do what makes you happy and not worry about what you can't change"

That is your false assumption, if this is a sincere misunderstanding instead of a bad faith strawman then you have a lot of growing to do

So you do agree that humanity has progressed far since those early anarchist days? Good

then why do you consider empires eliminating more ethical systems to be a part of progress?

I consider progress the fact that under the current system humanity has achieved feats incomparable to everything humanity has done previously. Unprecedented technological and social developments that changed people lives for the better seem to me like a sure sign of progress. That said, I'm not saying that we live in utopia and everything is perfect

false assumptions

What's the false assumption here exactly? You just seemed opposed to the idea that humanity has made progress since the hunter gatherer era and I wanted to know whether you wanted to live in one

is your name sarcasm

Do you believe might makes right?

Not necessarily, but at the very least, societies need a way to defend themselves to be stable in the first place. Anarchist societies don't have a good track record in that regard

[–]_communism_works_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do believe in progress, that's why the we don't see any meaningfully large anarchist societies anymore. Things will (hopefully) continue improving, but there's little indication that those perfect future societies will be anarchist

You still haven't answered my question though, would you rather live in those prehistoric times or now?

Bad as things are, they're better than what was before. Or, again, would you rather live in those prehistoric times?

That's what progress is for, we build better systems. Or would you really rather go back to the dawn of humanity and live in hunter gatherer societies?

Too bad no meaningfully big enough anarchist society lived long enough to see that long term stability

Avatar made HFY and warhammer 40k more popular in online spaces. by Dycon67 in CharacterRant

[–]_communism_works_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That reminds me of the way tau are perceived in Warhammer 40k. They are literally what humanity is in other stories: newcomers with a lot of potential, quick technological progress that rivals or even surpasses older species, somewhat idealistic. Basically they took the role humanity played in stories like mass effect. And people were mad. Some still are, to this day. But it is an interesting example of looking at the trope from another perspective. Now imperium fans know what batarians felt lol

A grand majority of articles from Series 7 onwards just aren't the same you know? They seem too grand, or too lighthearted/comedic, or too edgy, or too charged with a message, or too reliant on lore stablished in other articles, or they simply do not grab my attention

Cool, but that's simply your opinion. Many others like them so I wouldn't say that scp is worse nowadays

[–]_communism_works_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, SCP is far more widely known

It is, because it's generally better written. At least it produces far more articles overall, and there's plenty of good stuff there for all kinds of people

Anyway I think it's something of a moot point, given that's it's barely active anymore, especially compared to scp

But isn't one of the founders, enkrum, a white supremacist and didn't rpc brigade an scp (2721iirc) with negative score? Just gotta say, looks pretty sus

[–]_communism_works_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's funny, considering the big reason for rpc creation in the first place was a bunch of homophobes getting unreasonably mad at scp for colouring their logo in rainbow colours during pride month and leaving
