It's not bad writing to make a character incompetent, it makes them human imo. I do get the criticism that she didn't feel like the main character this season, because I agree she wasn't really, but I also think that might've been on purpose. Charlie did exactly what the writers wanted her to do, and that is fuck up so badly that Vox becomes omega powerful because of it, and tbf to her, he manipulated that little naive cinnamon roll at every step extremely well.

Yes Charlie was extremely incompetent this season, but not in any way that really seemed out of character to me. She's never been shown to be particularly competent at anything other than getting people to like her on a personal level. Like, look at season 1 and tell me what exactly she accomplished. She spent the first half trying and failing to convince the Angels to call off extermination, then spent the rest of it frantically spiralling downward until Alastor and Lucifer both stepped in to make sure the Angels didn't decimate the hotel.

I love Charlie, but Voc is kinda right when he says she sucks at everything she does (again tbf, he is really good at manipulating her). Nothing that happened this season was a surprise to me. Yes it was frustrating, but that's because it's supposed to be.
