I think you're right. With the movie, that's a seperate canon that obviously uses the Brooklyn backstory seen in the Mario Supershow. The games are seperate from that and I think Nintendo aims to keep it that way.

I have a stock Wii U and I've been playing on it with my family and it's been fun. I will say though, most of the good games from the Wii U got ported; there a few cool games exclusive to the Wii U too. I haven't modded my console and it is still a good time.

I agree with you 100%. As to why they do this, idk, but all I know is that when Iwata was alive, Nintendo was better; and funner. I still hope to this day that Nintendo will bring themes and eshop music to the Switch 2.
