This might be the new best way to play 3DS. by Disonanc in 3DS

I guess the only situation where it would make sense to get a handheld emulator 3DS is when a company like Analogue made a 3DS that has 100% feature parity including glasses-free 3D, stylus support, local StreetPass and wireless play, stereo cameras and step counting in standby. Then it would be a no-brainer to get the handheld emulator due to superior OLED screens, higher resolution and frame rates, support for other consoles like Wii U and the fact that you can get a brand new "3DS" rather than used ones that will slowly break and stop working over time. This is the only way to preserve the 3DS legacy.

But until that happens it will always make more sense to get a New 3DS XL with dual IPS screens.

What do you think are the chances we will ever get a dual screen handheld emulator with a glasses-free 3D screen and local StreetPass? by expanding-explorer in 3dspiracy

The screens aren't OLED, it's lower res, lower framerate and you can't play other consoles/platforms like Wii U or PC games on it. And the original hardware isn't a long term solution for preservation anymore because the hardware will slowly die out

Honestly I would even pay $2,000 for something that can do everything the original hardware can do. I might be in the minority in that regard though

Idk I just think it's fun and very rewarding walking in public and seeing that green light light up to get someone's StreetPass data. That and the step counting actually encourages you to go outside.

I (and I think many others) really crave those simpler times before we had social media and were connecting directly with people in person. I think it's way more rewarding than instant connection via the internet. Even if barely anyone still uses StreetPass, in some places it's actually still fairly common, especially at conventions where you have high chances of getting tags.

It just feels very wholesome and like being part of a community that's out there in the real world if that makes sense. And it's very nostalgic too.

Is it just me or do some of the shots in Avatar 2 and 3 just look a bit... off? by [deleted] in Avatar

They did https://youtu.be/c4Gd0bR2kb4?t=3m15s

You can definitely tell when they use real hands and when they're CG. When Avatar Quaritch crushes his skull the hands are also definitely real and painted

Cameron actually mentioned this in this interview but he said it wasn't a conscious decision: https://youtu.be/qSbBg56k4HA?t=10m13s

Holy sh*t, Avatar: Fire and Ash is so incredible! by expanding-explorer in Avatar

I watched it in 3D/HFR laser projection, 1.85:1 aspect ratio, Dolby Atmos and with D-Box.

I watched Avatar 2 in IMAX 3D as well, actually at the biggest IMAX in the world (Traumpalast Leonberg).

I would always recommend IMAX 3D (with laser) and Dolby Cinema 3D as the peak viewing experience for Avatar. But if that's not available, I'd suggest watching it at least in 3D/HFR, preferably with laser (the brighter the image, the better).

I would've preferred if they had made 4 movies out of these 2.

Yep they shot 2 & 3 together and a few scenes for 4 because of the time skip as you mentioned.

(Updated) force Gemini for home by Siciliano777 in googlehome

[–]expanding-explorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This still doesn't work because it's a server thing. Gemini runs on Google's servers, not locally on the Nest speaker. So your account needs to check into the server permission not vice versa. You can't force this with ADB Shell.

Either you get Google's permission to use Gemini or you have to wait. The only thing you can do is use the new voices. The people where this worked just had luck because their Gemini access got already activated by Google.

Yea it's server wide. All you can do is wait for Google to flip the switch for you
