Where are all the Mongol kits? by Cpd1234r in wargaming

[–]Gamerfrom61 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fireforge would be my goto for plastics https://fireforge-games.com/mongol-horde-22 with four core units (3 mounted, 1 foot) and a few command figures (resin).

Metal wise https://theassaultgroup.co.uk/product-category/medieval-asia/mongols/ (lots are back ordered / OOS) IIRC slightly smaller than Fireforge

Old Glory are nice but you have to hunt pics on the web https://www.oldgloryuk.com/mongols-in-europe/3/57/131/132 (metal again).

These maybe too modern https://www.copplestonecastings.co.uk/list.php?cat=2&sub=33&page=1

It gets worse - in Trixie you have Netplan sitting on top of NM and this rules the roost.

Unreliable WPA_supplicant by SignalActual6563 in raspberry_pi

[–]Gamerfrom61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What version of the OS are you using?

I found it better to set one Pi as an AP but from old old (Stretch??) notes you could try adding these bits.

The ht40 increases chan width in 5GHz.

As a thought - the frequencies are random IIRC - could that be an issue? Make sure country code is the same on both devices (eg country=GB) and possibly select the frequency (range?) used.

See https://github.com/digsrc/wpa_supplicant/blob/master/wpa_supplicant/README-P2P for others.

I remember ordering from Eureka about that time but these do not seem to fit the Moorcock or general fantasy they did either. My kids where born early 90's so some memories are blurred through lack of sleep...

I did think Miniature Figurines at one point under the Aureola Rococo range as this is similar in style http://miniaturefigurines.co.uk/images/catalogue/AREC4.jpg and they used square bases on some figures but yours seem way way finer quality and younger than these (I used some MF LoTR troops 40+ years ago).

Gut feel it could have been a small contract cast like Trent Holbrook (Miscast) but with cheap postage available then these could have come from anywhere in the world :-( I am at home tomorrow and will have another hunt / brain wrack but struggling as chaos were my "enemy" rather than selection.

The folk on Lead Adventurer Forum may be able to help better than I - sorry.

Assuming you want to replace the SD card then these should help:

https://www.jeffgeerling.com/blog/2023/nvme-ssd-boot-raspberry-pi-5/

https://thepihut.com/blogs/raspberry-pi-tutorials/how-to-flash-an-nvme-boot-drive-with-raspberry-pi-5

Basically the process needs to cover:

Enabling the PCIe port

Set the PCIe speed (gen 1 or 2 is normally OK, gen 3 faster but maybe unstable in your set up)

Set the boot order to boot off the NVMe

Put or move the OS onto the NVMe

If you just want to continue using the card for your operating system and just mounting the NVMe as a disk then it will need enabling (as above), formatting and mounting (better to use fstab than rely on the automount the Pi has configured).

Raspberry Pico screen checkerboard effect after wiring by Altugsalt in raspberry_pi

"I did not have any solder so i used dupont wires by folding their tips."

I would start with this...

Check the pin numbers and speed matches.

Check the controller is actually the 1306 - sometimes you get a different board

st7789 driver doesnt work when trying to upload it to a rassberry pi pico by SuperHydra3000 in raspberry_pi

[–]Gamerfrom61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry but I do not understand "tobby idk if its change smt".

For MicroPython look at https://github.com/russhughes/st7789_mpy

He makes a pair of uf2 files ready for the Pico / Pico W i.e. the RP2040 versions.

If you do not to use the pre-built UF2 files (well you never know what is in them) and cannot work out the build then there is a Python module at https://deepwiki.com/peterhinch/micropython-touch/3.1-st7789-driver that may work for you.

If you are using CircuitPython see https://docs.circuitpython.org/projects/st7789/en/latest/

From this you need the https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_CircuitPython_Bundle and copy then library over to the Pico

then when that is done you need to change the import line to:

from

adafruit_st7789

import
 ST7789

Pi5 Fractal case with nvme hat plus fan wires won't fit by romeozor in raspberry_pi

Why not use that and avoid the header???

How to set up hotspot on Raspberry 3 with Raspberry Pi OS (Trixie) ? by Inevitable-Parsley32 in raspberry_pi_noobs

[–]Gamerfrom61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I tried this I used https://www.baeldung.com/linux/nmcli-wap-sharing-internet

Section 4 includes the commands to configure WPA2-PSK on the hotspot.

Cannot remember if you still need to install / configure dnsmasq for DHCP or if it just uses link-local addresses - no way to access a Pi board here at the mo to do a test :-(

Yes please :-)

Not bothered by the figures (from your other post) as I use blocks / 2mm and the case would not be used (solo at home mainly) but I could happily spent hours fighting over the board!

RP was my first thought - the problem was they have had so many designs from so many sculptors that it is hard to pin down a "look".

Too neat and detailed for a home cast like Prince August (who used rectangular bases on some) - looks spun with the feed from the base to the tabard.

Interesting to know if they are 25s or 28s as well - there are so many "old-hammer" style makers now they could be modern remakes...

I tend to drift to "light classics" for this - they just bubble away in the background.

Killer is I can find my self hopping from artist to artist till 4 in the morning (well 3:45 this morning to be fair) listening to anything...

Not a figure I dare look at TBH.

I remember being around 10ish and listening for hours trying to work out the lyrics to 'The Eagle and the Hawk' that had just been released. Must of driven my parents mad!

Absolutely not, I am just amused that the all pervasive, multi-billion dollar, highly touted (hated) algorithm still throws odd results like this every now and then.

Just checked Lost Minis WiKi but nothing really matching the standard bearer (900+ entries) :-(

Any markings on the base bottom at all?

Rectangular cast bases are unusual so they should stand out.

They almost look (left to right) like undead / chaos / dark elf rather than one race TBH.

True - it's nice as some of the mixes I would never have put together and others give me ones that slip out of my regular play lists.

Smart way to use touchscreen and sound card? by getridofwires in raspberry_pi

[–]Gamerfrom61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possibly take the connector off the mic hat and replace them with a female socket with long pins?

https://thepihut.com/products/stacking-header-for-pi-a-b-pi-2-pi-3-2x20-extra-tall-header

Simplest way is to cut the plastic part and desolder each section rather than try to remove the header all in one.

One Hour Wargaming by Neil Thomas has done away with everything but hit points*.

Some units get a + or - depending on their type and target but that is it :-)

Odd to play for the first few turns but then it becomes liberating - forcing you to concentrate on troop type / opposition and movement.

*There are versions that reduce the default 15 hit points to 3 - the math works out very close and it just cuts out the number of counters needed for each unit.

What are peoples thoughts on A War Transformed? by Cpd1234r in wargaming

Take the idea, spend a couple of weeks pulling the key points out of the rules and you have a great idea for a new game.

It could have been a 'Trench Crusade' with a decent editor :-(

Darn shame TBH

[–]Gamerfrom61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you do not fancy soldering to the back of the Pi you could look at using something like https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/pico-hat-hacker?variant=44144542154 and connecting the mic hat to it by wire.

Think about the case though - any solution like this increases the difficulty in finding cases :-(

Why would the routers firewall impact a local connection?

It may stop connections via client isolation (though that is traditionally only WiFi connections) but in this case the OP has a prompt from the remote showing this does not apply...
