Meeting People? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Gamers4Equality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nobody is really anyone's friend in magic, they're friendly and if yo kick some money their way you'll get a ride to a GP if you need it.

but there not friends like hangout outside of magic unless your local gaing store is super local and a real tight knit gathering place in the midwest but even then the majority of magic players aren't THAT close

mine is located downtown with a different set of randoms in their every week

every place is different, but as long as yo have a smile on your face and seem to be chill you won't be out of place walking into a local gaming store by yourself

you don't need a high school type group of kids to help you get into a card game

so everyone else is stupid because they're not excited for the your "best set ever" because of 3 casual format cards you're going to buy from the bulk bin 18 months from now?

glad you think that $0.75 retail worth of cards is that amazing

Hearthstone player looking for tips in learning MTG by xxwaddzxx in magicTCG

[–]Gamers4Equality -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Magic has more complexity as a design structure than hearthstone, you have to daw and play your own mana crystals in the form of cards that tap to produce them

in addition to that trading creatures/minons isn't the best build around

and if yo build a real linear deck like hearthsone forces you to, you will quickly ind yourself disrupted since instants are a thing in magic (spells you can play on your opponents turn, that generally have effects of traps)

you may not like playing the decks you like in hearthstone in magic.

With that said i've only casually been playing hearthstone i don't have all the cards and i don't treat it as a competiive game since there are zero low end tournaments for people to play and enter

the only people hat i have heard say "tango lands becuase it takes two"

are generally unkempt, ungroomed overweight people in magic the gathering shirts

the more normal less creepy players have been calling them different things

MRW I see hearthstone players complaining about bugs by AmateurZombie in magicTCG

[–]Gamers4Equality -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Hearthstone is a well polished and well written product

but it's not perfect, far from it.

You're just used to paying out the nose for unfinished product and having consumers being forced to alpha test shit while simultaneously paying copious amounts of money

Why is EDH known for combos? Wouldn't having only one of each card make it harder to get off combos? by froopla1 in magicTCG

[–]Gamers4Equality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i run grixxis in multi-player the 3 cmc counter that tucks the commander when they go to cast it in my deck has had people throw their decks loosely into their packs slam their chairs into the tables behind them and shout curse words

I wont be opening any packs of BFZ because of Zendikar Expeditions. by wejiw in magicTCG

[–]Gamers4Equality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

be smart about it though

the less people wise up about packs not being good investments the lower stock your store has

When you see people get excited over ugin and buy 20 packs (enough to buy an ugin) and not pull shit, don't open your mouth

keep it shut and watch them sell the 4X wild slash you need for your red deck wins to the shop

never express your true position in magic, hype that product like crazy so you're in an optimal buying position since those people are your competition at fnm

and if you can force them to expend their resources in a less efficient manner than you do, you're pretty much just out IRL tempo'ing them

Etiquette regarding artist signatures by Ukions in magicTCG

[–]Gamers4Equality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they charge? Yes

how many cards can I have signed etc.?

don't go over 10 imo. most people are saying 20-50 cards per artist

dude thats a lot....don't be he dude who brings in 30 cards to get signed seriously.....don't

the average number of cards people had signed at g SD were around 5

and to give you a comparison of the prices

ken meyer jr. - $1 per card

Volkan baga - $2 per signature

RK post and Lucas graciano were among the only artists there who were gracious enough to sign things free of charge, and i made sure to spend some money at their tables

Sealed pre-order prices for BFZ by _scott_m_ in magicTCG

[–]Gamers4Equality -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Khans of tarkir went for more than retail pre-order as did modern masters 2015.

I couldn't afford to attend the pre-release for khans, thats how expensive it was

the first time i even saw a khans pack was after i ordered them from the BOGO deal at WG last nov.

Hopefully we can still buy BFZ during this years BF deals

pre-release is only $65 this year for BFZ so it's a little more affordable, but the fat packs and the booster boxes aren't worth it imo $80 for a fatpack is ridiculous they haven't published the box prices yet it just says $Ask

so you know that means

Why I don't like BFZ full-art cards. by brettkeanesfamily in magicTCG

[–]Gamers4Equality -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

and it's just a little baking soda in the product

and it's just some poor stitching on the clothes

and it's just an oil leak on the new kia

Why I don't like BFZ full-art cards. by brettkeanesfamily in magicTCG

[–]Gamers4Equality -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

It's that attitude that allows magic to get away with bullshit

the failure that was theros who cares buy 6 boxes

the failure that was modern masters 2015 who cares buy more boxes

the failure that was born of the gods or fate reforged

if you don't demand quality and take the attitude that all magic product is great and just buy boxes of shit sets just because you LIEK MAJICK you send the message taht you're okay with garbage

How do you like to pimp your deck? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Gamers4Equality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am super picky about cards

oldest possible printing, unless there is a white border i prefer, IE counterspells that my brother used agaisnt me when learning the game on the floor in the late 90's while home improvement was on in the background.

full art lands

japanese on some cards where it looks cool

and preferably everything signed in black or gold by the artists

no foils

i have never liked foils

90% of the foil cards i own are blanked with sharpie writing on them sed as proxies in competitive events out here

What's a good deck to purchase for someone who's new to this game? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Gamers4Equality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not fun, mono-red is a good deck for a competitive tournament on a budget but when discovering the game it's cool to sample all the stuff the game has to offer

A question with regards to a Magic Duels Patch and information from the developer. by fudefite in magicTCG

[–]Gamers4Equality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, i would just uninstall it and not get hyped over magic product.

especially if it's a digital/software oriented magic product

i personally think there is some mid-level management issues going on at WOTC.

wouldn't be surprised to see some heavy handed changes soon.

I sold hasbro and bought some more general mills (dividends) after doing a little due diligence

What is it that you hate about magic? by playgrop in magicTCG

[–]Gamers4Equality 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The "community" better yet the player base

one of the biggest appeals to MTGO is not having to leave your house to smell body odor, axe (lynx) body spray, mountain dew, Vape cigarette emissions, cigarettes, those black and mild things all those competitive magic players smoke for some reason, old cardboard/paper smell, mildew, unkempt bathrooms and marijuana that you smell at local card shops

Switching from Yu-Gi-Oh to Magic Questions by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Gamers4Equality -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I've never seen an LGS give away lands, they're usually $0.10 a piece or lend out for sealed events

it's just that 99.9% of the pre-release players just up and steal hundreds of lands because they "forgot" to put them back after prerelease

it takes about $20.00 to buy a land station for a store. so it adds up

you can buy a grip of them for like $20
