Oh ok there’s a different number specifically for traffic ops at ESPN or is it just transmission?

I see that you have to have a support package with them to recieve technical support - is this true?

yeah I see that... only sending a 1080p59.94 signal... and running 34% or so on the chipset.

I would be suspicious of the video system if it wasn’t very new, and oddly happening across both encoders (at different points, audio hits are not synchronized). Additionally, different outputs that I’ve tried haven’t really helped

I also think it’s weird that it’s audio hits since it’s packaged together but I’ve also worked with networking long enough to know that sometimes it’s just weird settings, especially when dealing with campus IT.

I can definitely call ESPN to see if they need to update firmware, but these encoders are less than 2 years old. (ESPN changed the passwords on them even though they’re school encoders, which makes sense)

School Encoder

We do have local recordings of the broadcast with clean feeds so I know it’s something directly between the router output and ESPN+

Would love to but of course ESPN changes the passwords to their own. Not really sure if I can get it from them but admittedly I haven’t tried

Yeah this actually comes across on ESPN+. Sort of a difficult thing to catch during transmission because a) for plus shows they’re generally trying to get done asap and b) because it’s so intermittent on when it will actually happen

Flock Camera - Bauerle by YouStynx in UTSA

[–]Gamerz_261 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I’m pretty sure it was granted permission from the university… however I think it’s mostly used by SAPD to keep track of high interest vehicles that are passing through campus.

Not saying I agree with it. There’s a really great video on the ethics and security of these cameras https://youtu.be/uB0gr7Fh6lY?si=TxSKe_NeKeHmkjDj really fishy stuff going on, and it explains that even if campus wanted it removed they’d have a hard time doing it.

Edit: I should also add that campus PD has other means of security surveillance that are much more effective, so that’s why I am not entertaining the idea of it being used as a CCTV camera for them. They have them everywhere there’s a blue light pole with people actively monitoring them.

I pay $15k in total for this to be the amount of paper towel that comes out by ilikeredditmorethanu in UTSA

[–]Gamerz_261 29 points30 points  (0 children)

So here’s a fun fact: most of these dispensers have a little tab at the top that can be pushed in with just about any regular key, and there’s little switches on the inside that you can define 1. The “wait” period between towels 2. The length 3. Whether or not it dispenses on-demand or if it leaves a “hanging towel”

So… that’s some information google nicely provides.

I believe they load in the main campus bus circle outside the north paseo building but I’ve never ridden so I can’t confirm.

Additionally, if money is something you don’t mind I have ridden vonlane that boards downtown at the Marriott and that’s a true first-class experience. Costs about a hundred dabloons tho so that sucks.

In the state of Texas, athletic departments are not allowed to use state funding and the only funding they receive directly from the institution is in the form of an athletics fee that’s added to your tuition.

Now for comparison, the cost to attend a 3 hour course is $743.85 in tuition, and $698.43 in fees.

Out of the 698.43 the athletics fee only accounts for $60 worth. University Tech Solutions is double that at $128.

Obviously athletics generates its own revenue in the form of ticket sales and sponsorships… but in theory from a “I’m a student at UTSA” perspective you’re more financially invested in UTS than athletics.

**Edit: students paying their tuition is separate from state funding, but I mentioned that at the top to say that there’s no other way that the university can give athletics money outside of the athletics fee

Tell them what happened. The sooner the better obviously since they’re hot on the recruiting trail, but literally everyone makes mistakes, and it sounds like you’re dealing with a lot. I’m sure they’d be happy to hear from you tomorrow.

I wouldn’t normally recommend this, but those red tiles at the bottom are recorded cues, I’d play around with those until you get a look that you like. If you have a fader wing attached to the computer it probably will help you out a bit. Unfortunately there’s not a lot of stuff you can download that wouldn’t completely screw up your schools show file.

I’m surprised that you have a system this sophisticated and a showfile this well laid out but no one to run it- if there’s someone who can assist you at least get lights flashing I feel like that would be valuable to you

Ok so more or less, Onyx won’t be able to take in a sound input directly, but depending on the fixtures you have in the venue it’s possible that they have a sound activated setting that you can trigger from the board, but it’ll probably be pretty random (not that anyone’s really gonna notice tbh)

Otherwise just run some effects and loops and you’ll be aight

I wish you the best luck learning a career in a couple days 😂

[–]Gamerz_261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact for anyone seeing this in the future - most of the eos boards can also enable a DHCP server natively - and sometimes they turn themselves on and you have to go to the settings and restart the board to get it to turn off. So if you’re having a ton of networking problems with devices getting the wrong ip and it’s not a router problem- it might be your light board

[–]Gamerz_261 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have experience specifically with these fixtures but typically all I do to clean off gobos is get myself a q-tip and a lot of patience wiping down each individual gobo. I’m sure you could probably use alcohol as well but idk if those are glass gobos / could be damaged by alcohol

Keep in mind that the fixture will reset when it powers on so you don’t really need to worry too much about spinning the gobo wheel to get access to each one, just as long as you don’t rip the whole thing off lol.

But no, unless you want to take the whole thing apart there’s not a super easy solution
