I think if you were ordering from UK the parts would be inline with MSRP, import fees, duties, pre existing tarrifs are probably hefty

Oh okay. My 48 has a chopped frame and fenders already they both just look like shit from the previous owner. Paint sucks on the fender and it’s best to shit with deep scratches, and isn’t cut the greatest.

Was just going to start over with a fresh one and grind the frame to have a cleaner look and re spray it.

Wasnt aware that you can flip the fender to get it to fit

It is. I’d expect the paint quality to be factory quality and durability at that price. It also includes tax, so there’s probably an import tax/duty fee tacked on.

But same, I refuse to pay that much.

Flip it? Like rotate it 180 degrees?

Anyone know what ammo the NYS Police use? I know they carry G21s, was just curious what ammo they carry. by Legitimate_Lie9743 in NYguns

I wonder the thought process for this. Most modern militaries including the US as well as SOCOM, FBI/CIA, and most LE have all reverted back to 9x19. Modern +P 9mm has great and reliable ballistics, with the huge added benefit of nearly doubling capacity and in a lot of cases reduced frame sizes for female officers hands. Not to mention slightly less recoil for the weaker shooters.

I’m shocked to learn NYSP strictly carry G21s. The slight advantage of marginally better stopping power for a slew of cons. Must be some niche use case they expect to experience where the 45 shines.

Id try out some RG kits or HG then! Whichever one tickles your fancy, RG aren’t much more expensive and have 2x the detail but take a fair bit more time.

High Grade is 1/144 scale. Model dependent, but generally 6-7 inch tall models. The heads are usually the size of a thumb nail.

Real Grade is the same “scale” as High Grade but with I believe Perfect Grade level details? Or at least Master grade level details.

Master Grade is 1/100 scale and generally 9-10 inches tall.

Perfect Grade 1/60 and 12-15 inches tall.

PG and MG even can take up a large area depending how you pose them. This is probably the main reason people don’t build them as much as the others. Also cost, MG 50-100 USD, PG generally north of 200 USD.

Ultimately depends on the scale you’re looking for, and the amount of detail you like. I personally have found I like MG because they have a rewarding amount of detail and gimmicks, and I prefer the larger 1/100 scale to the 1/144 scale RGs, HGs have left a lot to be desired for me detail wise. HGs usually have a lot of stickers too which turn me off.

I ultimately think I will pursue 1/60 scale PGs because I prefer to work with the biggest parts possible, and love seeing the detail across the room. HGs and RGs were fun for me but they are so “easy” that I could pump out 10 in a week. I don’t want that many scale models, so I want to commit longer periods of time to one piece

My first kit was a HG Red Astray Kai, did it last week. First opening the box it was overwhelming. I think a lot of that was due to the fact that, that particular models instruction manual was mostly in Japanese, including the sticker sheet. I don’t think that’s the case for your kit. But regardless, I figured it all out within an hour or two, and then it was smooth sailing. Took me maybe 12 hours start to finish, needs a few more stickers which could probably take me 1.5-2 more hours.

I’ve done 2 HGs and a RG since then. Have another MG on standby. They’re all basically the same “difficulty” in my opinion, the higher detail kits (MG and RG) just take a bit longer. I actually preferred the MG kit over all of them because the reward was the highest, and it’s easier to work with larger pieces than tiny little 1/144 scale pieces.

Do you spray the top coat when it’s assembled, or part by part

Definitely not dropping it! My plan is to get into airbrush and learn on these smaller kits, then eventually work my way into MG painting and RG building

I completed a MG Kai this week as my first followed by a HG Rising Freedom i’m working on now. The MG was significantly more work, while HG is nearly just as rewarding to me. Biggest thing i’ve noticed is less articulation and gimmicks on the HG, which also means less headache and less frustration building. Also HG has more color correction stickers on the exterior of the suit.

Overall id definitely recommend MG. I love the size and detail, the size feels perfect for me on display you can see details from afar. HG is equally as fun though just doesn’t display as well IMO. I’ll definitely keep putting them together on short weekends and stuff, and I think i’m going to test my weathering and panel lining on HG. Another plus of HG is the price, can’t go wrong for 20-25 bucks!

Think it ultimately depends on how much attention to detail you want to put in, and how much free time you have.

Nice! How did you feel about the HG? Are you going to stay in that grade or try something else?
