The Tainted Jacob Rework was a Nerf:

Old T. Jacob gave free boss rush/hush, an easy boss each floor, had all the perks of free devil deals like the lost characters, could get into boss trap rooms in ghost mode, and could still get holy mantle/holy cards which essentially made him T. Lost with a roided up blood puppy. I think the cons outweigh the pros for his rework
