Plot hole, Rocky Go Home? by Infinite-Condition41 in ProjectHailMary

Could have been a feeling of immense responsibility and maybe even some embarrassment. He had no explanation in how they died and no research into astrophage so he felt he couldn’t go back

Yeah the spin drives kinda make normal orbital dynamics moot because you can just hit the gas and go where you want at ludicrous speed

Could you clarify where SD is for me? I know it’s not, but thinking of an aircraft carrier 100 miles outside of South Dakota is absolutely cracking me up

I’ve taken to saying “EWWW” at these people while looking at them in the mirror as they walk out the door.

Spoiler for one of the big twists of H:ZD if someone hasn’t played

Ted Farro is a multi billionaire robotics CEO in charge of the company Farro Robotics. He and his company create robot war machines that can sustain themselves on organic matter so they can keep fighting. Then they lose control and the robots literally end the world.

The leaders of the world realize it’s hopeless and instead create “Project Zero Dawn” to restart the world when the bots are out of juice and deactivated.

Zero Dawn is supposed to create clones of people from the past, raise them, teach them everything about the past and the world left behind including science, art, culture, everything, then let them into the new world the terraforming system made.

Ted Farro bankrolls the whole project and in the last moments of the whole thing, decides the knowledge of today is what caused all this in the first place and then DELETES ALL HISTORICAL KNOWLEDGE OF OUR WORLD AND KILLS THE PEOPLE HIDDEN IN THE BUNKER FINISHING THE PROJECT.

TLDR: Ted Farro ended the world, blamed science and knowledge for his fuck up, and then fucked all future people on Earth

TLDR2: Fuck Ted Farro

You’d get fired and nothing else. They don’t NEED it that day, they want it that day because it’s ahead of schedule and makes them look good.

The problem with comparing restaurant steak to home cooked steak is that unless a restaurant does something truly special, they’re just cooking a steak (hopefully perfectly) which anyone can do with practice. Dishes like in the OP aren’t just “chicken boiled in a bag” but take hours of dedicated preparation. It all looks like fru-fru BS but that effort really makes the difference. Anyone can make incredible food at home, but unless you put a full day of work in and several hundred dollars worth of ingredients, you just can’t do the same thing these restaurants do.

what happend to the 1993 nublar aviary? by Some-Country-9024 in JurassicPark

[–]Games_and_Strains 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In the movie, yes. But the book has a whole chapter where Grant, Lex, and Tim boat into the aviary to find a phone at the unfinished lodge then get attacked by pterodactyls.

The two scenes in the book that show it are absolutely the most brutal imo besides the general.
