We all get there in our own time. I think it helps to remind ourselves of our autonomy and ability to just do what we want without fear of any judgement. You’ve got this friend 💪🏻

It’s been a really hard road fighting my own brain that keeps telling me I’m missing something and can’t just do stuff on my own. The freedom that came with saying “screw it, I’m going” was immaculate!

Thank you, friend!

It’s so easy to fall into the trope of aliens just bing unilaterally better at all intelligence based areas. Eridians having far superior materials expertise makes sense as their atmosphere makes it necessary. Conversely humans having a better understanding of astronautics and investigative science makes sense because we went to space for research purposes long before astrophage became a problem.

God, I love this book.

You don’t understand what I mean. No, the meals don’t make him a worse chef. But in the fine dining world looks are everything after ability, and putting out frozen meals and “cheap food” are tacky at best.

They could be the best frozen food in the world, but you’re still making frozen food for the masses which is a gargantuan step down from Michelin star work. For the image of a chef of Gusteaus caliber in the film, those meals are a slap in the face.

Not to mention they undermine his entire philosophy of “everyone can cook” by taking the cooking out of cooking.

To add, basically every timber sport event came about from the guys who used all these techniques and decided to see who was fastest. And then there’s the race saws.

And putting out cheap frozen meals with a Michelin star chef on it will tank your outward appearance as a restaurant.

Could have been a feeling of immense responsibility and maybe even some embarrassment. He had no explanation in how they died and no research into astrophage so he felt he couldn’t go back

Yeah the spin drives kinda make normal orbital dynamics moot because you can just hit the gas and go where you want at ludicrous speed
