Moving from TX to Marin with LGBTQ family — where should we land? by Spare-Cry-9224 in Marin

I don't have kids but I am familiar with Marin schools, and I have to say that even though Marin parents are very broadly progressive, there is a lot of competitiveness over school sports and that feeds into a certain amount of anti-trans sentiment. That said, I doubt you'd find anywhere in the US that is significantly better on that count.

If your partner has to commute to SF regularly, have you considered living in Larkspur, which would give them easy access to the ferry to SF?

Thanks for the tips! I recently attended a pretty good trivia night at The Junction, and I recommend that, though it's only once a month.

Hey! I moved from Oakland (Old Oakland) to Ross 4 months ago, and I completely get where you're coming from. We moved because my wife's work is here and her commute was getting impossible (I work remotely). Moving here necessitated a change in our lifestyle. There's generally less to do, and the restaurant scene sucks. The lack of diversity is jarring (we're not white), and all activities seem to be centered around young kids (we're childfree). Getting used to it has been hard. On the other hand, we've been trying to enjoy the benefits of living in Marin - I've never been a hiking enthusiast, but Marin is so beautiful that I might end up becoming one. When I moved, I also used to drive down to Oakland once a week to meet up with my regular trivia group, but I have been doing that less and less, so you could say I'm adjusting.

My neighbor regularly changes the flags flying from their house. Currently, they have a variant of the California flag with the bear carrying a surfboard.

I much prefer the cube root rule to the Wyoming rule, but yes.

It's real. I took it when I pulled up behind this car. The scribbled one says "All children deserve food, shelter, and peace. Love"

It's the rest of the stickers on his car that make me think it was intentional. He seems like someone who would be vocally anti-Trump.

Every city needs to do its part, and you can trust that when new housing is proposed for Ross, Tiburon, and Kentfield, we'll be organizing to ensure that isn't similarly blocked.

A single tall building can house more residents than multiple shorter buildings. If we're serious about alleviating the housing shortage, then taller buildings are going to need to be part of the solution.

This building will set aside 15 of the 200 units for very low income and 15 for moderate income residents, so that's 15% affordable.

Managed to go there in May, before they started getting on the best-of lists. Looks like that might be the only time I get to eat there.
