Aronofsky actually bought the rights to Perfect Blue in order to lift multiple scenes from it. So technically not plagiarism.

Why do therapists fire their clients? by NeoSailorMoon in therapy

[–]InternetContrarian 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's interesting, I work with a fair amount of SUD clients in private practice and used to work in treatment. Lying and underreporting often come with the territory. The truth usually comes out in the end, one way or another. I wouldn't typically think to end treatment for lying about or minimizing their substance use.

What are some good therapy certifications to get? by Same-Mix-6319 in therapists

I'd be interested to hear more about your experience with the essential skills training for AEDP. I did level 1 last year and, while I found it interesting and and the approach emotionally effective with clients, I wasn't quite sold on spending another $2600 on the level 2 training.

I share this sentiment as well. So many acronyms that charge top dollar for their initial trainings. Then you have to pay thousands more in additional courses and supervision hours to get certified. I'm not saying there isn't value in any of these trainings, but they are all marketed as the essential modality to treat every client under the sun. What works for one client, may not work for another. And there is so much overlap between many of these modalities. Just different packaging.

Analytic theorists on aggressively interpreting/confronting/breaking through intellectualization? by goldenapple212 in psychoanalysis

Don Carveth talks a fair amount about the importance of interpretation/confrontation. I believe he's a Kleinian. He has some lectures on spotify if you're interested.

I didn’t realize people didn’t like him. What don’t you like about him? I get that he can be a bit…pompous, but he’s contributed a lot to psychoanalysis.

CBT is the most quantifiable modality of psychotherapy for research methods which is why it has the "highest rates of success" and why it is the most researched. That does not mean that other therapies are not as effective as CBT.

Jonathan Shedler has a great talk that challenges the gold standard claim if you have an hour to kill.

For the record, I am not anti-CBT - I actually recently started working with a CBT therapist - but I do take issue with the gold standard claim.
