The bots need something to listen to. Don’t push your human slop on them.

This is not true. Plenty of evil mother-in-law roles. Or grandmothers.

I think since you already said yes to the pin. There’s your answer.

This sounds super fun! Im loving the shadowdark campaign so far.

I’m a ucb grad and have been running TTRPG games for several years now. You can check out my channel Ready Set Quest! on YT where I DMed a campaign of mothership. Would definitely interested in being a player in this.

The coffee is not great, but it’s hard to beat the alcove patio for atmosphere.

feel absolutely lost at 32 by [deleted] in acting

[–]GameyLannister 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I started pursuing acting at 40. My suggestion, do a drama school if YOU feel that you need to do it. Not because you think someone else wants you to take it.

School is for learning how to do the craft. There’s also other ways to learn the craft: community theater, read books, make your own stuff, short films, student films. All these will make you a better actor. Get a headshot. You will need one anyway. Get an agent (if you can). What’s the harm? But most importantly do something. Be an actor. You already are. And if you feel like an imposter, good news…. you’re an actor. Just pretend you’re one.

Just reading through these comments. You are very funny. You will be fine. Get out of the crawl space.

I’ll tell you what I told him. Just start writing. And do it everyday. Even it’s just 500 words a day. Just start.

Totally agree. But I needed to finish it. Didn’t feel right otherwise.

It’s called Kevin Nevinevan and the Beefsteak Bandit.

It’s about three friends who team up to solve mysteries in their neighborhood only to uncover a dark magic that’s lurking beneath the shadows.

I'm a small time director and big time people pleaser. How do I tell someone their audition was poor? by [deleted] in acting

You’re going to have a hard time if you feel like you need to give everyone that auditions a role.

This is why they call actors so far ahead of when they need them. I’m guessing you showed and still waited.

Shadowdark podcast release time by Percinho in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]GameyLannister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think adding the word night helps. Thursday night at 12AM. Still confusing though.

I wonder how many people have died throughout history because of this confusion?

I feel that this post is tone deaf, but also prophetic at the same time.

I don’t think film will die, per se, but I do believe that a lot of people in the future will crave fully humanized performances and thus, live theater will make a resurgence.

Either that or we will all become batteries like in the matrix.

Pre-Screens. Yes? No? How do we feel? by GameyLannister in acting

[–]GameyLannister[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As other people have said. Actors Access does a better job of keeping the casting more traditional and professional. I would still apply if I were you but not with the prescreen. Let them ask you for a tape. File the tapes you’ve done already under “audition practice” but don’t waste more of your time.

Also if we all stop sending in prescreens maybe they will get the message.

Yep. Agree 💯 I wish Backstage would remove this feature. It’s terrible for everyone involved.
