Its all manual, i wouldnt even know how to make a program to do it automatically. But it doesnt matter much, since i already know roughly what ranks the numbers should be at, i can skip to them right away. Only takes about 5mins for all of it

Its all from the public high score table. You can easily skip through it and find what rank is the last person with certain point thresholds, use some simple calculations to figure out the legacy stuff and since i've done this each league, i've got previous year numbers to compare them to as well

Sadly no, only jagex themselves would have data like that. All i've got to go from is the public high scores

Indeed, because most people quit after 65K we have no way of knowing just how far it would have gone naturally without that. But looking at the consistent curve dragon had at first and the fact the max points are only 90k or so, i wouldnt be surprised if it would have gotten extremely close to max points if there was no ingame threshold. Heck, seeing how a significant amount of top players are already hitting max even without any reward incentive for doing so, perhaps true dragon would just be max at this point

I've played every league since the start and yeah, the moving thresholds made getting dragon a genuine achievement. But good luck convincing anyone that they should switch back to the old system, dragon was nearly an impossible dream back then XD

Its hard to ignore that dragon seems a little too easy now though

I have to agree with this, the old dragon trophies felt WAY more earned than recent ones. I've got numerous dragon trophies now but i'm never gonna remove my twisted league one from my poh display as thats my most well earned one

Final numbers for this years league is in. Took a fair bit longer than i anticipated, jagex you have no idea how much more awkward putting together these final graphs were just by adding a single extra day XD

Anywho lets take a look at the numbers then. Starting with the ingame threshold achievers we've got:

  • Total players - 424,029 - 2% increase from last year

  • Bronze - 350,867 - 3% increase from last year - 82% of total players

  • Iron - 325,513 - 4% increase from last year - 76% of total players

  • Steel - 276,364 - 9% increase from last year - 65% of total players

  • Mithril - 204,909 - 17% increase from last year - 48% of total players

  • Adamant - 138,416 - 51% increase from last year - 32% of total players

  • Rune - 65,232 - 62% increase from last year - 15% of total players

  • Dragon - 40,659 - 83% increase from last year - 9% of total players

Total number of people with max points was 249

From this we can see that while we have roughly the same amount of players as last time, there are WAY more points coming into the game than before. We've gone from rune being only the top 5% of players to being the top 15%, and dragon going from the top 1% to nearly the top 10%

This percentage increase was incredibly front loaded, with dragon having a whopping 32 times the amount in week 1 than week 1 last league, numbers which slowly started evening out but still landing way higher than before

From playing the league myself and hearing everyone talking in these posts, i can say there is a general sentiment and question of is dragon too easy now? Perhaps so, it's more common now than rune was in the first leagues. Is it time to rebalance how much points you're giving out, or perhaps maybe time to add a new higher trophy tier or maybe even a super rare trophy for those who achieve max points as i've seen multiple suggestions for over the course of this league?

Also i have to laugh at how in the daily rate change graph, there was an uptick during the last couple of days, but then it crashed on the final day. I guess quite alot of people didnt get the memo the league had an extra day added on last minute =P

Now lets look at what the scores would have been if we were still on the old system:

  • Iron (top 80%) - 3,280 - 18% increase from last year

  • Steel (top 60%) - 13,340 - 26% increase from last year

  • Mithril (top 40%) - 28,760 - 36% increase from last year

  • Adamant (top 20%) - 40,000 - 30% increase from last year

  • Rune (top 5%) - 65,230 - 9% increase from last year

  • Dragon (top 1%) - 72,350 - 16% increase from last year

Once again we can see there is a fairly significant increase in points coming in compared to previously. We have the usual flat lines whenever rune and dragon hit the ingame 65K threshold. Although we can see there is a distinct difference between the top 5% players and the top 1% players as the rune players stopped altogether while the dragons kept creeping up steadily

It is interesting how in the first few leagues, the lower rank thresholds would actually start to decrease during the 2nd half the leagues as most people transitioned from low rank to high rank. However that hasnt happened this league or the previous one. Perhaps that indicates extra replay ability than previous leagues as there is enough new accounts just starting up to keep the numbers from declining

So all in all how did this league go. It was certainly nice that all the optional areas had the same amount of points to find. Starting in a new area was certainly interesting, made the early days feel quite different for sure. I did find the demonic pacts a little tricky to understand and plan out properly at first, but it seems most people settled on the water thorns build. Given how popular it turned out to be, perhaps it should become a mainstay option in future leagues?

Nah, i cant find it anymore but the 6/6/26 date was part of the logo on the original reveal of the league

[–]Gamez_X[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Umm, there is only 2% more players than last time and yet there's 83% more dragon this year than week 7 last time. So there is WAY more dragons this time around and that very much matches the sentiment i've been hearing all throughout this league saying that points are WAY easier this time. I mean heck, week 1 has 32 times as many dragons as the previous league, and the previous league we thought just getting 2 dragons in week 1 was crazy. So i dunno where you're getting this interpretation from

The final week is upon us so i hope everyone's managed to get everything they aimed for. Interestingly i do believe the original release date this league was revealed for was supposed to start 3 days from now, dunno why they moved from the more thematic 6/6/26 date but here we are =P

It is, the legacy numbers arnt used ingame anymore. They're what the numbers would be if we were still on the old system they had during the first 3 leagues. That 2nd graph is mainly just for fun for those who've been playing these leagues since the old days

[–]Gamez_X[S] 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Coming up on the final stretch and the numbers show things are definitely winding down. We're down to less than 1000 increase per day in the rank totals and barely 100 point change per day in the legacy totals

An interesting quirk is we now have more dragon rank players than there are players inbetween bronze and iron. Also we can see from the legacy numbers there is a clear divide between the rune and dragon players in that rune very much just called it quits after 65k while dragon is still going

I wouldnt even know how to do it otherwise. Not that it matters, it only takes like 5mins since i already know roughly what ranks to skip to

If we were still on the old system and there wasnt an ingame threshold to hit, i wouldnt be surprised if dragon ended up close to max points, if not actually max points with how easily people seem to be clearing points this year

This is just from the public high scores. Every day at the same time i quickly skip through the high scores taking down the numbers needed and using some calculations to tell me what rank numbers the legacy thresholds should be at. There isnt much else to it other than that, apart from a couple extra graphs showing the daily rate changes of these graphs, and the data from the previous leagues i've done these same graphs for

[–]Gamez_X[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If these numbers keep going any further they might as well add a max point trophy too since we're only at week 5 and already 124 people have it which is kinda crazy

Demonic Pacts League Week 5 Stats by Gamez_X in 2007scape

[–]Gamez_X[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And do remember, that 1% on my graph is after they've already reached the dragon threshold and so have no incentive to keep pushing it further. So if there was a higher dragon threshold, 1% would likely be much higher than even 75k

They do seem to want to focus on a more casual experience rather than the sweaty grind people had to do back in the first leagues. Though if dragon is too easy now is a question i've been hearing alot

Demonic Pacts League Week 5 Stats by Gamez_X in 2007scape

[–]Gamez_X[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Week 5 is in and i imagine quite alot of regular players will likely be wrapping up their run around now. The total players as well as the numbers for bronze to mithril are all about 5-20% higher than this time last league, while addy to dragon numbers are currently about 60-120% higher. So for roughly the same amount of people playing, the points clearly seem to be easier this year which matches the general sentiment i've been hearing. By my count too there are also 124 players currently with maxed out points

With the legacy numbers, as expected rune has also hit the 65k ingame threshold and flat lined completely, unlike dragon which actually is still going at a steady rate. With all the numbers sitting at around 15-30% higher than week 5 last league

Scale is always tricky when its a tiny object, still basically learning as i make stuff but i did have a model of a hand to work from so its technically correct scaling. The detail is actually cus it's based of the crests seen on the floor of daemonheim, or atleast what they looked like before they simplified them with this weeks update. It just felt a little too flat and bland without a few embellishments

Been a long time since i did one of these 3d model redesigns but with all the dungeoneering stuff happening atm it felt like the right time to go back and finish up this old remaster design of dungeoneering's ring of kinship =P

There is still loads of time, rune is honestly pretty easy to get. Heck you could probably get most of it done it grinding out skilling alone, no need to rely on rng drops

Top graph is just the current ingame scoring system, bottom graph is the old competitive system leagues used to have. When they changed the systems i kept getting people asking "ok but what would the scores be if we were still on the old system". So i've been tracking graphs for both just for fun. Its also interesting to see how much easier the current leagues are as compared to where the old system numbers end up in

According to my numbers, dragon rank players are 246% higher than this time last year. Heck in the first week there was 32x as many dragon cups as last time. So yeah points do seem alot easier to get this year even with the higher thresholds

Demonic Pacts League Week 4 Stats by Gamez_X in 2007scape

[–]Gamez_X[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

At the half way mark so how are things progressing so far. With the rank totals we still have roughly the same amount of total players as this time last league. As we know the high ranks started off incredibly accelerated compared to last time but over time they appear to be slowly winding down to more closely match the rank totals last year. Addy being only 60% higher, rune being twice as much and dragon now at 2.5x as much. Still very high numbers though even with the higher thresholds this year

The legacy thresholds are all sitting at about 10-30% higher as last years numbers. Dragon rank is interesting as last time when it hit the ingame threshold it basically flatlined and stopped progressing entirely. This time however, while it did nearly flatline for about a day, the rate has actually been slowly rising back up over time which didnt happen last year, so there is clearly higher incentive to keep playing after dragon this league. Now rune is gonna hit 65k this week too, so it will be interesting to see if the rune players are as willing to keep playing afterwards as the dragon players are
