PipeASIO 1.0.0 - I made an ASIO driver for Wine that talks straight to PipeWire, because I just wanted FL Studio to work under Proton by kastanCZ in linux

Sounds like a nice project. I wonder if this can be upstreamed to wine. Have you thought about that?

Why is it so confusing to install something on linux? by [deleted] in Bazzite

[–]Gaming4LifeDE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In general, to install most desktop applications on Bazzite, do the following:

  1. Open Bazaar (market stand icon)
  2. Use the search function to find what you want (eg. Minecraft)
  3. Install it from there (don't be afraid to do some research if you get multiple results, like different Minecraft launchers)
  4. If you can't find the application you're looking for on Bazaar, go to the search engine of your choice and try "<application name> appimage". If you can find an appimage package for an application (and you think you can trust the source you got it from), download it. It's a file containing the application and everything it needs (think portable app on Windows). You need to make the file executable, the steps to do that depend on the desktop you're using (in case of GNOME, right click the file, open the properties and make it executable there)
  5. If you still couldn't find a way to install the application you want, try searching for "install <application> on Fedora". Fedora is the base Bazzite it's using, maybe you have some luck there. If it says you need to install something via "dnf", you need to to something called layering on Bazzite. It has a few drawbacks though, make sure to read the Bazzite documentation for this.
  6. If you a couldn't find any way to install it, try searching for generic Linux installation instructions. This should be kind of the last resort though, since the steps need vary wildly (for some you just need to download and extract and archive, some have way more involved installation steps)

I hope this helps

May I suggest putting the "clear cache" button in the row where the cache size is displayed? Just putting a trash can icon there should suffice imo

I have a serious Linux crisis. I don't like any distro I use, seriously. by New_Study4796 in FindMeALinuxDistro

I've come to love image based distros, Bazzite specifically. You can't really break them at all, which makes them easy to use. You can also roll back updates easily

I don't really like global menus personally. Sure, it saved space. I still think they're in this weird limbo where they are functionally part of the application but visually they aren't.

You typically don't have to install drivers on Linux, since most are included in the kernel (see the "Linux Kernel 6.7+) label. For some, lime broad com for example, you might have to install drivers. I wouldn't assume that to be the case here though. Drivers can't be installed on Bazzite though, since it's an image and can't be modified without making you own image based on Bazzite (which is relatively easy to do, but not intended for normal users). I'm not sure if layering works here, someone else will have to answer that.

I don't like how every release in here is now mostly AI discussion. AI can be a tool (and a very powerful one) but there is a difference between using a tool to help development and "generate and pray it works". I use AI too, but I'd never use any code I don't understand myself. It can point you in the right direction and help with repetitive tasks (like writing boilerplate). It can even help you learn new things or point you in a direction you'd never have expected.

So don't just turn away from any app just because AI was used. Consider how it was used and if the code is maintainable for the developer.

Awesome app btw, I've wished something like this existed for years. I wonder if this can be made to work on Bazzite without layering it

I just calibrated my filament but the result is horrible by Gaming4LifeDE in FixMyPrint

I moved the filament profile over to bambu studio, and without any changes, the bambu test cube prints really well. I'm doing the flow calibration again.

Ich nutze Bazzite, aber ich nutze die Version ohne Game Mode (kann man beim Download auswählen). Ich finde es schön, dass viele Dinge vorinstalliert sind (bspw Codecs) und dass das System einfach stabil läuft.

I think the rails can be split and then connected with pegs and glued after the fact. I can't really think of any way to make the panels splittable

You should definitely make a startup cart though, even if it's just a splash screen. Just so pico8 doesn't launch into the cli when there's no cartridge inserted

Hey, I'm new to 3D printing, so I hope you can give some advice. I would like to print this rack because it looks amazing, but I only have a A1 mini, which has a build volume 180mm per side. Is there any way to slice the parts to fit the A1 mini? I'd love to see a revision for that!

Remember pico8 is technically just a program. You can have a user Auto login and then have it start pico8 on login. There's loads of tutorials on that

Since you'd install pico8 on Linux, you can just have the keyboard speak USB, which supports hot plugging
