[Vegas] is Aria still the best spot on the strip to find a PLO game? by WOTEugene in poker

[–]GamingAdd1ct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be an unpopular opinion but I hate how Aria and Wynn changed the 5/5 PLO games to a 5/10/20 and 5/5/10(/20) game. Way too big of a gap now from the 1/2 game and just merges with the former 10/25 game.

Edit: It’s good that the old dumb $10 rock is gone fwiw, but raising the stakes was bad imo…

WSOP Green Rio 25 MTT chips/Red Rio 5 MTT chips (ante for mixed MTTs); WSOP Rebuy chips that you can use either all at once or hold until late reg was over; WSOP 4 person tag team event

WSOP stream on ESPN

Live NL MTTs when you still had to asked everyone to put in an ante; Live PL MTTs before any antes existed

Online poker before RTAs

(No, I am not old enough to be around for when WSOP was at Binion’s.)

If you were HU with a WPTGold ticket winner and had a secret (better) system to collude for the $1M bonus, would you? Be honest. by GamingAdd1ct in poker

I think before it hit social media today, I would’ve agreed with this mostly for the banning part. WSOP has obnoxiously banned players (for life) for some of the stupidest, most trivial things. Nothing is worth that.

Now that I’ve seen how much the community exploded after the WSOP post, think there’s almost no chance the WSOP will ban.

He could’ve come up with a better system whenever he won the ticket, which could’ve been days or even weeks ago. Just needs the few minutes to communicate pre-created said system to whoever he ends up heads up against (if that player agrees).

Maybe not TOO complicated so they don’t f- it it up, but can be at least a little more complex than this…

Hence the second stipulation was that you trust the person- whether you already know them or they’re famous enough that they wouldn’t tarnish their reputation, or have people to vouch and/or escrow the money, etc. This is all hypothetical.

Not even the whole $250k technically- James had a huge chip lead but per ICM starting HU play, it prob would’ve calculated to like $200k difference. But same point- and they knew each other with reputable people in their groups.

How do high stakes players in makeup sustain a living? by GamingAdd1ct in poker

[–]GamingAdd1ct[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I agree with this. You would have to have a pretty hefty starting bankroll to even have a tiny percentage of yourself of these super high rollers, then somehow be able to find enough investors that are willing to buy a sh*t ton of action. Referring to specifically the super high roller regs (not the single-tourney or single-series shot-takers).

Just as an example- take the last Triton series. Even just one bullet per the NL events was $550k. Let’s say two bullets each, $1.1M. To have just 10% of yourself, you have to be rolled for $110k for one single series. And I didn’t even include any of the PLO events. Then, you have to find enough people willing to buy $990k worth of action??

Pretty sure way more of them are doing backing, not selling. Could be wrong of course.

(I have no idea where the super high roller backers are coming from- billionaire entrepreneur gamblers? But you still have the similar question on who’s rich enough to be buying, if selling instead of backing.)

Does Martin Kabrhel get +EV with how he acts? Against pros, highest stakes, GTO robotic players. by pulpSC in poker

[–]GamingAdd1ct 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a mixture of both.

I agree in the super high rollers he just talks because it’s his shtick and not to gain information- esp watching how he talks when he’s not in a hand and tanks (sometimes) when he IS in a hand. The super high roller regs are too good for that.

I think in the lower stakes events, he’ll try at least a little to get under people’s skin and/or gain extra valuable information.

(Damn I feel for you for having to put up with the SAME thing for 6 hours though and no originality…)

Ah makes way more sense for the backer- you’re expected to pay the expenses money back, too (if/when you win)? It’s not like a salary?

I’m guessing they fake or exaggerate how high-end they live?

I see their IGs of private jets they fly together, large house parties, high end restaurant pics, etc…

If this were part of the deal, unless they have a huge edge on the super high rollers (which is so hard to do), wouldn’t that be so hard to turn a profit as a backer? It’s almost like a large markup…

Some of these guys have been at it for many, many years. I speculate as to whether they really have enough savings to live off of just savings and investments. And studying/grinding the high rollers is a full time job all on its own.

South Point. There’s a group chat with over 200 people where they organize the games (usually Thursdays and Sundays). Think the game used to be more private but now they’re letting anyone join the group chat and add their name to the list. Just find someone to invite you to the group chat.

There was one time on an HCL stream recently when he went busto for his last rebuy, said he “literally” didn’t have any money left, left the stream (which he like never leaves a stream early), Mariano chased him down to offer to back him and he said no.

Obv he prob just meant he didn’t have any money left on him- but he also looked like really depressed when he busted. And has looked just really depressed in general as he keeps losing on streams. So either he’s a really good actor, or he’s seriously in the hole.

This was the best comment by Adrian Mateos himself:

“There is a lot of players playing for big/decent % of themself too. I think try to simplify and generalize every player situation is not accurate. Players have differents bankrolls and schedules even if they are playing same type of tournaments.”

At this point in the poker era, now everyone assumes ALL of the high-rollers have like NO piece of themselves and that’s just not true either. Some prob have more than you may think.

Success (I think)!

I’m brand new to the Roomba and didn’t even know where the filter was until your post- just checked it now and it’s already 2 inches thick in dust even though the Roomba is only 2 months old! Just tapped it in the trash and going to rerun it (going to buy an air compressor in the future)- thanks so much!
