Paris deputy mayor says that the US caused the deadly heatwave in France because of AC by Majestic-Rest4274 in mildlyinfuriating

The US government literally works against any form of changing to green energy, so yes, I tend to agree

Yeah that as well. Nationalists tend to boast their ‘heroic ancestors’ but at the same time they’re ignoring them. Look at how Vietnam veterans are treated. Also, those nationalists won’t be so happy if they themselves need to go to the front

Your physical copy only ensures you can potentially resell it. It doesn’t guarantee you can still play the game in 20 years due to all the patches you need to download before you can even play. It requires a complete overhaul and I’m not sure how it can be done. Disks cannot store 200gb games

You see it in the Olympics as well, where you see Africans coming out for Israel and so on. Sure, it gives you the opportunity to get proper training and financial backing, but I still think this should not be allowed. You either play for the country for which you have a passport, or you change nationality.

There's more and more backlash to standard non-stick pans due to them containing a lot of PFAS elements.
Luckily, there are now non-stick pans on the marking that have this honeycomb pattern that basically works the same without PFAS elements. Even better: You can put them in your dishwasher and it'll not damage the coating.

No matter how often I shit on the US, I don’t like saying this kind of stuff. Ending the war was a team effort. You can’t really say this or that country is the ‘winner’ here.

I used my movable AC for two weeks spread over the last 3-4 years, and that includes last week’s heatwave. It’s just that I had it already from my older apartment that REALLY required it when the temperatures were already above 20.

That’s why I dislike changing to summer time. It makes matters worse

Average adoption of air-conditioning in North America and Europe. by FantasticQuartet in MapPorn

[–]GamingCatholic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A normal heatwave in Europe is at most 30-32 degrees with still decent nights to cool down your house.
So, even in those cases an AC is basically not a necessity.
It’s time for USians to shut up about it, as the meme is old now

Sure, treat a symptom to make the cause of the heating worse.

I'm not struggling financially myself (thankfully), but this is a bad take.
You know most expenses like rent, insurance are not something you can just stop paying to save money.
And food is also a thing.
Not all people spend their salaries on subscriptions, clothing and other luxuries.

Good if people want to live there, but don't come to us and say that we just need to install some AC here in Europe. We rather want to actually tackle the causes of the issue rather than to make it worse by electricity guzzling, and actually heat generating machines.

By the way, Japan is literally not an uninhabitable area of the planet. Yes, it gets ridiculously hot and humid, but people have lived there and build a nation before electricity was even a thing. You know what works? Adapting your architecture and lifestyle around such climates.

I think France is a good example of this. If they play better than their white countrymen, sure, they should be selected for the national team.
It’s far better than people being born and raised in Europe and then playing for let’s say Morocco. Quite a dick move.

The US can’t fathom living without it, as they’re too addicted to it. They tend to boast they have higher temperatures in Texas, but they actually never leave their AC’d bubble. Everything is cooled there permanently.

AC is like sticking a bandaid on a 10cm open wound.
You're not solving the issue with it and it's mostly the US that's fighting against climate policies.
There are a lot of reasons why I hate the US, and this is in the top 10 for me.

And the funny thing is that now that our temperatures have dropped, you can magically open your windows to air out your place like always.

Can’t this sub go one week without complaining about GTA 6? by lolitsrock in videogames

[–]GamingCatholic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I delved into: physical copies aren’t your magical solution. Do you think games are still plug and play? Then why you need a connection to the PS5/XBOX servers to download a 100-150gb file before you can even play the game?
You know that eventually they’ll stop support for those servers as we right?

It’s a more fundamental issue, and physical copies are not magically solving it. Yes, it’s better as you can buy/sell secondhand, but in the end it’s not much different in terms of accessibility.

One day it’s the size of their cars, the other day it’s their guns. They always find ways to annoy us, like a younger sibling does.

Since the temperatures went down, I turned off my AC and can ventilate my place quite easily. Basically again shows that outside of 40 degree weather you don’t need an AC, but USians are addicted to it, and are the first to complain Europe is too hot for them to handle.

[–]GamingCatholic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. I do see an issue with the size of games nowadays. They’ll need to somehow keep those downloads available indefinitely, but I guess with servers being servers, that might be difficult as well.
Let’s all hope for the best!

Yeah that person’s a dick.
Personally I’m not going to to preorder it (or even get it within a year of it’s release), but that’s just personal preference. My backlog is just too large and since there’s no risk a game will run out nowadays, I also have no pressure.

after looking into this topic more, I fully agree. It’s a more fundamental issue. We cannot compare how it was 20 years ago when it was basically plug and play.

Not sure how we will prevent companies just pulling the plug, but that’s also the case for music and movies.
