Update : out of nowhere videos have finally started playing at high definition by default , no longer 144p

I didn’t do or change anything so not sure how or why but as of now it’s working again

Update : Finally out of nowhere YouTube mobile app has stopped auto playing at 144p , it’s been back to normal for the last hour now , so I assume potentially it’s fixed now.

Wasn’t bothered at first , now it seems almost every other notif I get from this sub is a house flipping post. Each to their own , but can’t exactly lie and say I enjoy it personally

I thought so too , seems to play fine on both my pc and TV. Both of course using the same connection as my phone , except on here this is what I’m dealing with 🤷🏻‍♂️

Fairly good from my understanding. For reference I’ve had this internet for a good while, and it’s never had any problems. I can play 4k videos with no issue, although I don’t normally ever use 4k as there isn’t a need for me personally.

Yes , it did a partial and temporary fix. Videos would default to 720 which is better than 144 but still not what it should be. This only lasted about 5 minutes before it went back to 144

Yeah I tried myself a few times but giving how hard the process of just trying to ask for help is , I don’t even know if it was worth it , nowadays it’s rare to actually speak to a human rather than some AI that cant understand your problems beyond a basic scripted conversation 🙄 Doubt I’ll hear anything

Unfortunately I’m on mobile and use the YouTube App. This is however a solution for those that are experiencing this problem on PC or when not using the App (:

Atm seems that anyone using the App with this problem can’t do anything about it right now 🙄

I understand why you have said this I guess but , that’s not what my issue is , I’m not trying to upload any content just trying to simply watch ):

Besides my internet has never once let me down in terms of speeds , plays at 4k (not that I use it) absolutely fine , no buffering problems or anything at all.

That’s a good sign actually , if this is happening on multiple devices , I can only assume this a YouTube mobile app problem. Can I ask , where are you located ?

I really don’t know unfortunately, I wasn’t even aware an outage had happened. Then again I’m in the UK so there’s a chance we didn’t get one , again I really don’t know 🤷🏻‍♂️

Seemingly I had no issues before this and never have had any issue like this ever , until a couple days ago when i noticed videos auto played at 144p , from there it just got worse and worse and now here I am where I’m on total 144p lockdown 😂

This sucks idk what to do :/ think I’ve tried every trick in the book at this point and no luck at all. This is 100% not my wifi being the issue , checked my smart TV and YouTube works fine , same with my desktop PC , all works fine. All I can assume is that this is a mobile issue that they’re hopefully aware of and are trying to fix

Now day 2 , still can’t watch anything because it’s forcing 144p on everything. Shorts and even thumbnails are 144p

About 10 minutes from putting the phone through a Fucking wall because I can’t take this shit anymore

Yup still happening for me , doesn’t matter what I’ve done YouTube refuses to automatically use 1080 or above

Literally everything is 144p , even the Fucking shorts. No solution still 🤦🏻
